Late watching this, but relieved by your reluctance to take pictures of picturesque things. I suffer from the same emotion. Lived for two years in Switzerland, took drives every weekend. Found much of it beautiful but too cute. Took three pictures of the country in those two years.

Still, definitively, after so many years, my favourite “KZbin” photographer. Genuinely sad that this series is over; the videos have been wonderful to watch. Like many of yours I will come back to them again and again. I only hope that one day you might secure the funding to do a similar long trip/long form series somewhere…

Firstly, I would like to thank you for the fine work you have done in capturing the images you have of my home country and in particular Andalucia. I have watched your series, together with those of Thomas Heaton and Jason (Grainyday) during your assignment here and felt a little sad that the weather was not its usual sunny days, but you must have brought the much needed rain with you as we are still under water restrictions and for this I was glad. I am now retired and have a freezer full of sheet and roll film ( Velvia and Ektarchrome) and as you may have felt in some moments that this land spoils one for the range of choices, I am now taking my time to record it on film. I live 15 minutes away from Malaga and if you ever venture back here, look me up and I will show you places west of Malaga, all the way down to the Atlantic which will have the some impact that El Torcal, Antequera and Tabernas had on you, they are my back yard as such. I have just seen this years Tourism ad which has a GOT theme to it, even presented by one of its main actors. I look forward to seeing the publication with all your works when it come out. All the best.

Well Nick, this was a wonderful series of videos from a gorgeous location. Your works spot on as always, and these videos alone act as a very enticing travel advertisement for Andalusia. But the thing that surprised and pleased me the most, was the introduction to my newest favorite musician, Slings! Shades of REM! Thanks brother!

That last picture floored me! The final image you came up with is not what I expected when you started setting up for the shot. The colors were sublime. After watching several of your YT videos I'm becoming a bigger fan of large format photography. Very deliberate in your approach and quite different than spray and pray with most digital videos.

A very recognisable characteristic of the Andalusian dialect is that many people will pronounce the Z and C (TH in English) sounds as S, so AndaluSia is in fact a very "Andaluz" way of saying it. We're also known for not pronouncing the S at the end of words but instead doing a soft H. So Andaluces turns into something like Andaluseh. Another cracking video btw, making me miss home.

Ive been to a few of those places… south Spain, Gibraltar, all that ancient culture layered and lived in places… and I had the same problem of “I dont want to photograph the traditional beauty” And most places there had that super classic beauty, so I just walked around looking for the few scruffy and offbeat places, but the area is just nice, its hard to find places that are not. Its a real challenge to not shoot “touristy” shots there. In that sense it is a easy and hard area for photography. Its easy to shoot good pictures, its hard to shoot pictures that are good AND stand out. You of course made quite a few standout shots, kudos.

Introspective, contemplative, timeless...there are other words I'd add if given time. I don't know what the draw is, but it's there, and you have it. Your photos are something akin to wine...getting better with age...images of the past, a bygone era. What's puzzling to me is not so much what you're drawn to this (we haven't met, and I'm not a psychoanalyst), but the puzzle is how a tourism board figures these images add to a narrative that says "come visit...". They are lucky regardless to have your images in the body of work produced by all the photographers they invited. Again I feel good that SoCal was represented (by you)!

Nick, I love the series and these photos! The one at about 15:30 of that crazy set of little buildings with the snowflake and what looks like the entrance to something. It so begs for an explanation of what it was! Especially the little white building at the left that looks like an outhouse with no door and a metal chair in it. One of my favorites just for the curiosity and bizarreness of it all.Fantastic photos throughout!

9:00 It's amazing how many people don't grasp basic perspective and what lenses actually do. Even the term compression is a misnomer, since nothing is being compressed, it's just groups of subjects from further away, are more in proportion from the human perspective, the long lens is just allowing us to crop into a part of it with greater detail.
