What is a piece of advice you can give us as we are shooting pictures at home?
I would say the number one tip I could give you is natural light. Natural light is the most flattering light that you can shoot photographs in, you wanna find big windows in your house where there’s a lot of light streaming in, you also wanna find where the sun is coming through the windows. So, even though you have a room wrap in windows you’ll be able to tap the sun is coming in from the right, from the left, from the back whichever window you can see that the sun is coming in from you’ll definitely wanna point your subject towards that window to get the best lighting. Also, another trick that I love especially if your shooting indoors is lightroom. The biggest thing that happened when you shoot indoor is when your under fluorescent light or just, in general, the light, your picture can look very yellow or can look very blue within the lightroom app you can color correct it, you can make your skin tone not look so purple, not so blue or not so yellow to make it look like a more natural like your actual skin tone. If you're outdoors you won’t need that but definitely, indoors you can get some contrast, downloading that app testing if some color correction even if it’s a little darker than you want, you can up the exposure to make it a little bit brighter, to make it more flattering. You may not be able to print them and blow them up to like 20x24 there’s no pixel but just for something for Instagram or Facebook good lighting is definitely the key. Good lighting, lightroom app, point your subject at natural light, so those are some good at-home photography tips.
What are some tips so that we can show up our best on zoom or facetime? What do you suggest?
There are a few things that I’ve noticed while entering zoom some are my do’s and don’ts that I have seen and something that I loved. I would say for one I think you just still show professional whether it’s your hair, your makeup, your clothing, I feel it’s very important to like show up on this calls, to show your face so somebody can see you, they can hear you but they can’t see you, I think it makes a huge difference that people can see you like you took the time to show up and be there and commit to whatever zoom or call maybe. I would also say to keep your background very simple and neutral. If you have just a blank wall in your house or even if it’s your office but very minimal not a lot of clatters that’s also great and then to put yourself in front of a big window so you can look your best, so you have great lighting, so you don’t look dark.
I loved hearing how you got into photography, tell me how you discover this passion of yours?
I got myself my little starter dslr camera and started shooting pictures of my kids and I started posting them and I started getting like family and friends who are asking me to shot them and it kinda just fell into my lap and I actually loved it like I loved taking picture of families, I loved connecting with the kids, I loved making them laugh and giggle and give them candy just to give me a good smile and family was definitely like my passion like I just love capturing those moments because you don’t get those moments back and just capturing the age like I know a lot of times, you know parents are so stressed out because they want those perfect smiles and that perfect picture when your kids are little like under 5, for the most part, it’s all about being candid, were gonna tickle them, we're gonna throw them in the air because that is the age that there at. They’re not gonna sit there and give us a cute smile and if they do it’s probably a cheesy smile and that’s not okay but if you get them to laugh that is genuine that’s very genuine so, that’s what I try to get out to my families. It’s just genuine, sweet, cuddly like happy pictures playing are some of my favorite ones. That’s how I kinda get into photography.
If your endeavors are in business or something professional like finances or real estate, I really think you should take the time to have some professional head shots, what’s your opinion on that or if we don’t have the time or the funds right? What’s your best advice for somebody who’s taking their own picture for a professional setting like linked or a job search website?
It has to be in your budget, I agree but I feel like it takes money to make money, I feel like it’s an investment. We have great marketing packages that are great that can set you up for at least 3 to 5 years as long as you don’t give them all away since you purchase them but we have great packages so that way you can make your linked, your Facebook and your Instagram all look the same. You can also take those photos and then rotate them.
