Well said although I'm a good parent so I'd better flag it so it doesn't offend my young children if they watch it by accident while browsing You Tube unsupervised upstairs in their bedroom on the laptop I bought them with no content filtering enabled! Just to confirm, I'd never flag anything on the internet, I don't even agree that flagging should be an option online at all. Let's just flag stupid irresponsible people instead!

When people smash electronics, even though it's not probably true, I get a bit sad thinking about the people who put them together. I know it's put together piece by piece by different people, but imagine one person putting together this camcorder. Maybe it was this persons first ever assembly. The person puts in the last screw and inspects it - proud as ever. Holding it up, thinking "I made this, people will thank the anonymous me for being able to record their lives. It will be one of their proudest possessions, and they'll take care of it like their electronic baby. I'm sure they'll put it back in its pouch after each use, after carefully cleasing its lens and screen. This is the best day of my life." Then it ends up in some lab, being screwed apart by a hammer.

IR Emitters will have some slightly different wavelength lights emitted from the diode, however, very little light in those stray wavelengths are emitted, however, when in direct view, can often be seen, even through an IR Filter.

The cameras that do 'night shot' or whatever it's called, move that filter out of the path during night vision use. Then a remote control looks almost like a flashlight.
@cecilrichardson24947 жыл бұрын
With all due respect Photon, when it comes to electricity, it's not the voltage that can kill a person; it's amperage. One of the first things I learned while I was still in the Navy & being trained by the HMs (Hospitalmen) as a stretcher- bearer (basically, the U.S. Navy equivalent of an EMT) for one of the ship's repair lockers was that all it takes to make a person's heart stop beating is just 1 ampre. Interestingly enough, it takes roughly about the same (maybe a little more or less than that) to get a person's heart beating again if they're flatline, or to shock them out of V-tac and back into sinus rythm.
@030569327 жыл бұрын
im pretty sure he knows this. i mean come on have you seen his backup setup? The guy is an expert. Look what he drives, he's obviously employed in this field high up

The IR filters don't block much of the light from standard IR LEDs, they are there to block IR from sunlight more than anything
@dumdum77866 жыл бұрын
The sun gives of uv light, not infrared. It's probably instead meant to block infrared light from incandescent lamps because those do give off infrared light.

Ah explains a lot seeing my old home town of Gravesend, I still get the blame for setting fire to farmers fields along Thong Lane in my tender days when it was actually my brother who came up with the brilliant idea of inside a hollowed out haystack to build a campfire and about twenty fields went up in a blaze that got onto the news lol
@PihkalTheTihkal12 жыл бұрын
I know cameras can see ir light but the ir-filter is supposed to prevent ir light from reaching the sensor. What i meant was that the transparent square Photon removed from the sensor probably wasn't a filter since the camera was able to see the ir light from the remote.

I'm not an expert but I think its the radiation from the laser bursts the cells on the sensor and that's what gives you the dots
@howlingwolven10 жыл бұрын
Pretty close, but the scatter from the laser was so bright that it was enough to overvolt individual points on the CCD. You can actually see at various points during the DPSS vid that the CCD is so overcharged by scatter that the camera has trouble processing it. The first time this happens is when the dots arrive.

Ive fried my share of CCD's over the years with laser, accidental of course. Its not hard if the power is high enough. A reflection, or quick exposure makes short work of the CCD, that is for sure.

Yes, because working with this kind of equipment for other people's entertainment is so cheap, and when other people chose to flag your videos, it makes the entire effort worth it.

Interesting ... The last time I ripped open a Li-ion battery like that there was a liquid electrolyte that made things rather messy. I had 2 cells, the first one I accidentally shorted the plates as I was cutting it open, which made a spectacular amount of heat, the second I managed to tear into without creating internal shorts. I got some nice copper foil, and after dumping it in some HCl, got cobalt chloride (and probably lithium chloride). Good times.
