As someone who was a draftsman that drew up blueprints almost 30 years ago I can tell you that that type of graph paper is called Clear Print. It is called that because it is designed to have the graph line disappear when copying whatever is drawn on the paper so just the drawing appears and not the graph lines. This kind of graph paper has been around for over 50 years. EDIT: The blue lines on this vellum paper are designed to allow the light source with print and copy machines to pass through them allowing just the the drawing to appear as a final result. My father used to use Clear Print all time when he worked at NASA and drew up engineering schematics. Also when I drew up blueprints I also printed them in house. We never used Clear Print. Just standard vellum paper. While no graph lines ever appeared in any blue prints I ever made or seen those random blotches DID occur all the time.

Hi, is it possible to make all these settings a template, so you can drag a picture and turn it onto this look? Hope that makes sense. Thank you!

hey there, what would you do if you wanted to make the blueprint have a transparent background? if you wanted to keep the white edges, but remove the black background (need to save this photo as a png and can't use blend modes when not in adobe software?)

After you have your non-inverted image, open the channel's panel > Ctrl-click the RGB thumbnail to make a selection of all the tones of your image. Invert the selection by pressing Ctrl + Shift + I. Hide all the layers. Make a new layer. Fill the selection with black. Deselect it by pressing Ctrl + D. Save it as a png file.

@@BLTV_Photoshop Wow! Thank you!! So much. Got up to the "hide all the layers" step -- a few quick questions: should I hide the RGB layers, or hide the layers in the layers panel? Should the new layer be a regular new layer, or a layer in the channels panel? Is paint bucket best way to fill that new layer with black? Thank you again for all of your help! I've tried a few ways (hiding one time the RGB layers, which wouldn't all hide, and then hiding the regular layers) but both times got a little lost.

I use CS4, it has no Camera Raw filter. Any suggestions?
@BLTV_Photoshop
@BLTV_Photoshop 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure there are work-arounds, but to be frank, CS4 is so dated, I have no idea what that version has and doesn't have. Sorry.

I am surprised that the Text is actually on the new layer you created. EVERY single time I want to put text in a new layer like this, whenever I click the text in the left side menu it automatically creates it's own layer leaving me with an empty new layer.
@BLTV_Photoshop
@BLTV_Photoshop 2 жыл бұрын
Creating a new layer for text is a personal preference. It's not necessary to do this, but sometimes I just do it anyway. Once you create a new layer, the text is placed on that layer. Either way, I've never gotten an empty new layer. Weird.

Marty, I have been enjoying your videos for years, but the link you just provided to the "Blueprint" font was so loaded with click bait it wasn't worth the risk of trying to get the font. Sorry.
