let me just say, you saved my life. So many "experts" and "screen printing gurus" on the net danced around this, didn't get to the point and recommended some super spenny software. You got straight to it, thank you so, so much!

This was brilliant! Thank you! Before stumbling on this video I had spent hours watching long complicated videos, which I didn't get all the way through because it was either too much or not enough details. I guess I just needed a sister woman to explain it.😊 This was short and right to the point, and you explained it perfectly! Thank you!

Gimp has a filter called Newsprint (filter->distorts->newsprint) and it can split all the colors, but only to a single layer so you need to magic wand select each color and create seperate layers

Hi. So this example would use 4 screens right? What if I have an image that’s only blues and whites. Is there any way to reduce the number of screens I’d use in that instance. Do I still need the 4 separations? Thanks for the amazing tutorial by the way!

I'm surprised you didn't zoom in close at the end to show us the 4 colors of halftone dots! I was waiting to see that.

When actually doing the final screen print in this case, will the bottom most layer be black (as in the one printed first) or the top most (the one printed last)? Or will it not make a difference at all due to the angling of the dots?

Hi , when printing, do you print wet on wet, or wait to dry, and what is your preferred colour brand, line? Ive hear many different ways to do it, water based, water based thinned out, acryl thinned with translucence, wet on wet.. absolutely marvellous video!
@indieillo2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I usually wait for each layer to dry. I use system 3 acrylic paints mixed with system 3 printing medium. It’s really important that you let the layers fully dry, some printmakers leave a day in between each layer, so the ink is fully settled into the paper. I don’t believe this is 100% necessary, but it’s personal choice. Also make sure to use a heavy duty, smooth surface paper. A high gsm paper will ensure the least amount of paper stretching when printing and smooth surface means the texture of the paper won’t interfere with the fine halftones. Hope that helps 😊

Just wondered if I did a colour halftone in photoshop from the filter/piixelate menu, would it be the same as halftoning individually in greyscale as you are doing here ?
@indieillo3 жыл бұрын
Hi, usually if you use the halftone filter, if you zoom in to the dots there will still be grey tones. So it won’t expose on a silk screen properly. But if you just want the halftone effect then using the filter is fine 😊

Hi! My printer is asking not only for this but also to have each color as a layer on the file. I've managed to figure out how to convert the channels into layers, but once I do that and color overlay each layer with its respective cmyk color, my artwork doesn't look accurate at all. Do you have any tips for this situation?

Hi there. What are your print settings? when I try to print individual channels it prints the full color image even if I turn off the other channels. Or do I have to save as individual files for every color?
