Excellent clarity and pace of instructions with perfect use of zoom into buttons. One of the easiest to follow complex PS tutorials I've ever seen. I just didn't like the result as it did not seem to really look like a 50s poster to me. Still, I'll be reviewing all your other tutorials to find any relavent to me because of the quality of instruction.

Would it be possible to show this with the latest version of Photoshop- a lot of the features you mention are different? I'd really like to try it, but keep running into difficulty with things not matching up.

@@BLTV_Photoshop The main difference is there is no longer a "Refine Edge" button. I believe "Select and Mask" is the replacement? First "refine edge" step is (1:53). After using the elliptical tool (3:32) it is used again. I instead tried using "Select", "Modify", "Feather" (50%) and then "Select" "Edit in Quick May Mode" which looks similar to the stage you're at in the tutorial, but it doesn't perform the same way and future steps don't work. As an example at (3:59) Command + Shift + I does not invert the selection, probably based on my different approach. I wish I had the older version of photoshop to follow along on your tutorial because I really like the finished product! I appreciate any update you can offer! At 6:59, you see "Ctrl + J". This cuts the shape within the selection and copies it onto a new layer.

My image continues to get darker each step and it goes completely off the rails after I cut the fuzziness outline into a new layer. The layers don't align anymore and the image is almost blacked out. Any suggestions?

Nice look, thanks, Marty. However, I chose a model with red hair, and the blend modes you used didn't work, as it was too orange. I had to change blend modes and opacity. But that's the beauty of photoshop and your tutorials, it's always good to try variations if something doesn't work. :-) (Not a criticism of your tutorial, just saying what I did.)

lol. This isn't supposed to look like an "actual painted picture". It's supposed to replicate the look of a color photo that was printed by the inexpensive lithographic,printing processes from the 1950s.
