From another life-long Prodigy fan/amateur music producer, it is always a treat to have videos like this that deepen our understanding of how Liam Howlett makes all these bangers consistently. Thank you!

Ray, i'm pleasantly surprised that you're such a Prodigy fan ! If i'm not mistaken, that "Prodigy Phrygian" mode would include one augmented and TWO (!!!) diminished chords... Did you notice if they play those kind of chords in their songs or if they use only the Major and Minor ones ?

Really good video. For me personally, I think I have literally always done this without knowing it even had a name. Nice one!

@@HackMusicTheory oh gosh, you actually rememebered me... gosh... you're sooooooooooo awesooome! you both are!!! just heavenly. Should you have a FB accoutn now i gotta be personal friends with you also... such nice people! Thanks for asking, I think i've been making a bit of a musical breakthrough, and even if that part is all in my hea at least i've been going for quantity over quality and at least making stuff, which in my book is at least me trying. I ended up filling up my soundcloud account free portion so I moved to putting my new junky pieces on soundcloud www.jamendo.com/artist/513738/ixaarii ... The exciting thing this year is that i bought myself some orchestral libraries. In terms of tools I've been getting more into this cool software RapidComposer (if you're curious my last uploaded video is adressed for somebody on the RC forums who asked me about my workflow). So yeah, a LOT of musical excitement this year. As always i'm always super impressed, thankful and filled with gratitute at every video HackMusic Theory makes. I'm further interested in modes, ways of using them. For example I know there's all sorts of graphs and formulas of progressions that work for major and minor but i've never seen anything like that for modes, yet surely similar ideas of musical tension must apply. I've been trying a bit more of B Dorian (my homey is B minor) recently, with even touches of B Lydian as some of my recent favorites... but I'd like to learn from you guys to use more Phyrgian. The other area I hope I'll understand more and would love if HackMusic Theory would make more on would be concepts of polyrhithm, practical applications. You'll see what a jumble it all is in my head if i tell you that recently i had some trouble with a 3/4 song, i wonder what's with other X/Y ... i wonder how oen would make a waltz... why or why then phrases from one would not work in another, what could one do to change that... aaaaanyway, i bore you, don't mind me, I guess i'm just excited when I get a personal reply from my heroes. Thanks so much!

would e phrygian be in the key of c?
@HackMusicTheory6 жыл бұрын
E Phrygian and C Ionian (aka C major) are relatives, as they both have the same notes but a different root. You can think of them as identical twins, where they have the same DNA but different personalities (i.e. Phrygian is dark, and Ionian is cheerful). Hope that helps, Dean, and thanks for joining our Hack Music Theory community, we're super stoked to have you on board :)
