I hear april is a very hot month in thailand , is that called high season?

Yes April is very hot. No high season is between November and March. It usually gets quieter in April and then the rainy season starts

I was training at a gym at Soi Ta-iad for a few weeks in January, and in my opinion the street is very overrated. Also overpriced compared to other places in SEA. There is a certain risk of getting injured by traffic when walking to and from training as well. On top of that with the inrease in russian tourists in Phuket, personally it just wasn`t worth it at all. The street has become a tourist trap unfortunately. You`ll find gyms in Thailand where you pay a fraction of the price for membership, get even better trainers and much less crowded classes. Where I`m staying now in another city, there are sometimes no one showing up for the evening classes, so you`ll get to learn from a couple of trainers with decades of experience without having to pay for private sessions. Bangtao is great though, but difficult to find a room there in high season if you didn`t pre-book months before arriving.

Yes the gyms have definitely increased their prices, I think the gyms are cashing in on the streets popularity. I trained in Chiang mai recently which was definitely better value for money, I just prefer Phuket. The traffic is certainly bad during high season, mainly because some people think it's necessary to drive their scooters at 100mph on the soi!

OMG! When I trained at tiger Muay Thai years ago there was NO ufc fighter ! That street was filled with tin shed where families live. I ate at Tony;s everyday. Is he still around? Last I heard was he was going to sell everything for 30 million Baht! What a change. I miss Peter the body builder.....at TMT.
