I use to fly in and out of Phuket two or three times a day on a daily basis for the airline I use to fly for, and lived just outside Phuket , nice area and to be sure there was never ever any shortage of beach goers who just had to get up and personal with aircraft arriving or especially departing getting sunburned and not to mention a severe case of sand blasted faces, in some cases sun bathers showing up at nearby medical facilities to have grains of sand picked out of their teeth, eyes, face and hair, yup, sounds like a fun day at the beach to me...

Awesome spotting location. Today I gone there by taxi from a nearby hotel the fare was 200 Baht. At the entrance to the beach there is people guarding a barrier. The taxi stopped at the barrier. So I got out to enter, I was told I had to pay 200 Baht to get into the National Park where Nai Yang is located. But he told me to pay 100 Baht only cos its nearly late afternoon. The staffs look like going home soon. Does anyone who gone spotting there have to pay 200 Baht each time? If I go there each time, it will cost me 600 Baht ( 400 Baht taxi fare + 200 entrance fee).

@Oliver Lim The airport viewpoint called “Nai Yang Beach”. It’s exactly there. About 3-4 km from the viewpoint in direction North is the Holiday Inn Resort. This beach called “Phuket Mai Kao Beach. Look at the map.

Naiyang beach and Mai Khao beach are separated by small sand dunes in the sea (see Google map). Phuket Airport is on the north side of that sand dunes. So it is technically on Mai Khao beach.

Snap out of Nai Yang Beach photos: airport warns Breaking News May 18, 2018 16:40By The Thaiger A meeting was held yesterday, led by the Phuket International Airport General Manager Petch Chancharoen, to discuss a KZbin post showing photos from the airport’s neighbouring beach. KZbinr “Donprozento” posted a video on March 10 showing tourists taking photos of an aircraft landing at Phuket. The meeting addressed how to prevent potential danger to tourists taking photos and problems that could be caused by a drone.Petch said: “We strictly check on the safety as that is our main concern. CCTV cameras have been installed near the area as well as three-metre fences and warning signs. Security staff member are patrolling the area every hour. “The law will be strictly enforced for any offence. Both Thai and foreign tourists must not take pictures in this restricted area. This is to prevent any harm to both tourists on the beach and aircraft landing on the sea approach to the airport.”
