To be honest when I visited one in Phuket back in 2016, around 6-7pm with a friend, we were the first customer! We asked the girl many questions on earnings and how they get by, many of them live in shared accommodation. The girl said, it’s a case of luck sometimes, if one person doesn’t earn anything for the day then the hope is one of the other girls do. We left her a big tip, and I wasn’t getting a massage but ended getting one from another girl so she could earn her first pay for the day. It looks all nice and fun to us but it’s a tough living for them.
