Should never deposit passport as security for rental bikes. Rather deposit cash. Passport is your identity in a foreign land, and it's not a good idea to leave it with anyone. Good rental bike shops don't ask to deposit your passport as security.

You’re right on your part. Absolutely yes. But in most south east Asia countries with all the incidents and accidents Which happen with all kinds of tourists (Indian and others) and the affinity to run away from the incident and causing financial damages to the bike owner along with other problems is why the passport as a deposit is the only policy they trust in my opinion.

Hi! Phuket and Krabi are next to each other and is in the south of Thailand. Whereas Pattaya is in central they both are far away from each other. But if you want to do the coral island your. It’s a a nice thing to do. So go ahead.

Not really. They are not checking it. But if you want peace of mind then carry 3-4K Bhat and then show the rest in bank of they ask. But trust me they don’t ask.
