Sometimes people just forget,that we have the ability to change our look. Having a default sloop, made some people steal my cannonballs and planks, and they got keged out of nowhere. Having no Pirate legend clothing made someone think I am an easy target... Again, they died.

Buddy and I offered an alliance to a nearby sloop under attack from a brig, Meg, and kraken. They decided to shoot at us. So we sunk them, and it turns out they had just finished a fort. We took the loot, and they managed to scuttle hop close to us and gave chase. After 2 hours of them following us, and talking shit when I boarded them (even though we beta them the first time) and anchored them, we eventually ended up in the DR. I had the idea of hopping off one at a time to vote for Shores of Gold at Morrow’s Peak and either lead them through or stop them at the shroud. Longer story short: it worked. We wanted an alliance, they wanted death. So be it.

Similar thing happened to me I was solo grinding for gems to finish the time limited commendations. While I was at the Port (sold all my things already), a brigade came and tried to attack me. Then I killed a guy on the land, made it back to my boat and they are in my cannon range. After one shot their boat exploded, they either dropped their guard since my boat was not decorated at all, or they were planning to use the kegs on me. One of them killed me, but when I return their boat just sunk, and left 4 gems and bunch of other stuff. I finished up 1guy and load their loot to their rowboat, and rowed away until their last survivor got eaten by sharks while trying to swim to me

Once I was minding my own business solo slooping, when out of know where, a 3 man galleon started firing on my docked sloop and killed me (hadn't had chance to equip ship cosmetics) and shouted "get good loser". Later on I saw them again near a skelly fort, noticed they had all left for the fort. I also noticed they had 4 gunpowder barrels in the crows nest, so I set 3 of them up down below and left one up top, when they all came aboard, no one went downstairs (luckily) and the loot they were bringing aboard was pretty decent (cashed out for 38k), so I hid the 3 gunpowder barrels at the very bottom when they ran for more loot, and retreated back to the nest 2 were setting sail, the other was bringing a skeleton fort gunpowder barrel up. I went to sleep in the one gunpowder barrel left, he dropped the skelly barrel and went back down not noticing me (how I don't know). I then waited for them to go back to the outpost, but on the way they saw another sloop parked on an island (not mine) and decided to annihilate it (patience). About 1 min before reaching the outpost I decided to move, picking up the skelly barrel and dropping it on the deck, and picking the last gunpowder barrel up I climbed down and dropped of the ladder, ran down stairs and lit the barrel at the bottom of the stairs, and dashed off the ship and swam to the island, one big badda boom later and they are dead the ship takes about 20sec to sink and they don't respawn fast enough, takes me about 7 mins hauling the loot to the island to sell, but I did leave them 3 (now)empty chests. About 2 mins later they fly past the island and I type "lads I bid you farewell, but remember, this was the time you almost caught, Captain Jack Sparrow", and logged out. I've always hated pvp, but that one time after being greifed, I gave it a try and I've never had so fun in pvp.

Clean shot. Very nice stuff :) My crew also tends to sink ships at outposts when we go in to sell stuff just to avoid interference, but generally just if we're playing a brig or galleon (and then it's also dependent on how much loot we have and the ship that is there, if it looks newly spawned, etc..) I'd wish we could trust people to not be douches and try and sink our ship/steal our loot if we rolled up beside them but... Too high of a risk, generally. Of course there's always the chance that it will bite you in the ass, but then that's part of the charm of Sea of Thieves :)

Yeah I something of a similar vein happen today I'd gone to Morrows peak to offload my chests handed them over and came out of the clothing shop to some sloop blasting my sloop to pieces I was solo at this point so I shoot at them with my pistol get out to my sloop as it sunk so I swam ashore and decided to get a drink in the tavern i come back out to the same idiots offloading loot on to the jetty and I just stroll past them with my tankard in my hand its only as I get close to their boat that they realise either I'm [a] not a NPC and [b] I'm the dude whose empty boat they just sunk just to park up at the jetty then they both shoot me and I respawn on another island laughing my arse off!.

I gotta say it seems like a given that they didn't come back for that loot. Not out of rage or anything. You sunk them at the outpost, the expectation is that by the time they made it back you would have already turned enough of it in that there was no longer any point in trying to get it back.

They were attacking you to eliminate a potential threat so they can sell their loot. We do the same, you cannot trust anyone in SoT, if we approach an outpost with loot and a ship is there we have two options 1. Go to a different outpost which take more time and runs the risk of being krakened or attacked by othe players 2. Sink the ship at the outpost and kill the crew. We should go for option 2.

Actully had kind off the same situation with sloop treasure uber going on plunder. A LV 3 athena attacking me before I got out off the pier. I did like you, jumped out, but I boarded them, killed them, checked their crowsnest, found ancient barrel and dropped it on their ship. They sunk so to speak at once, but even without emisary, they had extremly much loot. Value around 150K from different events, athena voyage, random junk they found, they had been hoarding, so I tok all the loot on my sloop, sailed to morrows peak, was able to sell everything, what do I see inn the horison comming towards me on the last sale? The same sloop, I just logged out off the server and into a new one, because I didn't want to be chased for houers on end. I was going for golden shores tall tale, wich is why I went to morrows peak inn the 1st place 😅

Total noob here (Age 66) 'old school' tabletop and very early computer games. Haven't played anything in like 20 yrs now aside from 1602 AD. My SoT still hasn't arrived and I'm getting quite antsy! (lol) Question if I may? I am going to assume opening/unlocking the brig is not an option as I do not see anyone using it. But yet I see that you/we can vote someone into the brig correct? Here's the question...is it possible to vote a crew member into the brig holding a powder keg, drop it, then be released from the brig, thereby leaving the keg in the brig locked up? Since my game hasn't arrived yet I can't test my crazy theory. Thank you Phuzzy for all you do sir. It is your personal character that made me a sub. My apologies to everyone for so much text. Hello 🤗 Welcome to the seas my friend! That is indeed a very smart question, however. Whenever a character is teleported, whatever they have carried gets dropped on their despawn location, so it won't go with them into the Brig. So you will find it where the character was standing before being teleported. If it was to be teleported with them that would be amazing 🤣 feel free to ask all you want. Good day !

Imagine this...two intrepid sailor's sneak aboard, one sets the keg in THEIR brig, and then just leave. Imagine the panic and the mind game that creates. Then just follow and wait for the inevitable outcome...BOOM. Their realization that they gotta blow up their own boat, or chance someone else doing it. On the other hand instead of a keg, why not their most valued stuff and just leave knowing their goodies are lost to them and out of reach forever. Pity this plan can't come to fruition tho...lol. So this happened to me today I was just doing a tall fale with my crewmate when a (i think) pl with a random player show up and try to kill us, we thankfully lost them for some time cause another sloop came and attacked them, they sank i think, so after we sold our stuff we went back, and last time we had an encounter with them, they put a keg on the ship, we avoided it and repaired Like emmidately, so the first shot my friend shoots, hits a guy holding a keg, needless to say, my friend for a couple more hits on them and they sank. I consider it a good battle, as the PL was very good, also i got some practise on some guy killing captain grimm, and it went very good.

"I feel bad for them" Why. I was in a similar situation the other day--sitting at an outpost and a sloop rolls up attacking my ship. Hit them with a firebomb and watched their ship sink--they had just finished a skull fort. 50k+ in loot. Felt great, karma is a bitch, don't attack if you don't wanna risk loosing your loot. Yeah they sunk our ship too but both me and my girlfriend/teammate survived to throw the loot on a rowboat and cash in.
