@@roncalipayan7410 A challenge system is composed of multiple cameras placed around the playing area and part of this technology is a slowmo replay, the thing abt the conventional system kase is pag yung lines men and referees fail to accurately call kahit nakita na sa slowmo ma rule out parin yun. Madame na ganyang instance sa PVL and UAAP which is not helpful talaga esp sa crucial games. Second point, calling for a "Challenge" is acted upon by the team, so initiative ng players na magsabi sa coach kung ano ire raise nila na challenge.

Number 9 is legit though. You can see in the replay that the ball really hit the antenna. Even the DLSU player, specifically Alba knew and saw what happened.

Good collection of crucial plays. Let's go over them because not all are bad calls. Some are correct. #10. Missed net call. Should have been called. The down referee R2 should have called it. #9. Correct call by both Line Judge and R1 Official. Trajectory of the ball was heading OUT. It hit partially the antenna at the wire, causing the ball to change direction IN towards the court. Rule states that if the ball touches any part of the antenna above or below the top of the net, the ball is OUT. The side of the ball touched the antenna below the top of the net right at the wire. That was the Correct call. Biggest clue is the change of direction. #8. Correct call by referee, although not signalled correctly. When both players touched the ball, the ball was over the plane of the net. Middle blocker on the left blocked the ball into the setters hands that was already above the height of the net. The Setter is at fault for Back Row Block. The down referee R2 made the correct hand signal. The key is that the ball broke into the plane above the net, allowing either team to attack or block it. #7. I don't see what the referee R1 called. It doesn't matter if there was a touch on the ball because the ball landed IN. #6. Incorrect call. As a referee that is pretty tough to see, which is why the Line Judges are to watch the ball touches. That should have been reviewed and fixed. #5. Incorrect call. Not Over Reach by the blocker. While the video makes it difficult to see, the ball DID break the plane of the net at the top, allowing the blocker to touch it. The correct call is Back Row Blocker fault on the setter as the blocker on the right blocked the ball into the setter's single hand that was entirely above the height of the net. #4. Not sure what the referee called, but the correct call is a Net Fault on #10, not the player on the ground. #10 touched the net with her back while trying to move away from the other players. #3. Incorrect call. The referee missed the ball touching the ground on the missed pancake. That's really not hard to miss being up on the stand. The down referee R2 should have seen it and help make the right call that was missed. And the Line Judges on that side of the net should have flagged it as down ball also. Too many eyes missed this. #2. Correct call. While the video is really grainy, the Referee R1 made the correct 4 Hits fault call. While it was quick, the ball broke thru the block and hit the head of the player below the top of the net...this makes it the 1st team hit. The team made 3 more hits to make the fault 4 Hits. #1. I don't know what the play or call was. Was the call Out Of Rotation/alignment? But if that was the team captain, what was she arguing about? Either way, the team momentum is lost by arguing too long. The volleyball rulebooks are thin and not that complicated to understand, just take the time to read thru it. #3. I don't see what call is made. #2. It looks like the blocker was reaching above the height of the net when she was hit. We don't care about the height of the ball, just whether the player was reaching above the height of the net.

#1 it was the directive of the referees. they had a game the day before where it was out rotation error on the opponent, but it wasn't called out since it was a crucial point. but then again, during their game/play the out of rotation error was called out. there was no consistency.

@Stonehands 024 #10, even by playing the video on slow motion, I can't clearly see the touch of the net, the ball did touch the net, that is why the net was moving. She may have touched it but I really can't be sure with the poor quality of the replay. #7, the attacking team wanted a touch call. This means the referee most likely called out. However in addition to not seeing the referee's call we can't see what the line judge called as well, so it's pretty hard to know who to blame here without the whole picture. #5 Correct call. Even if the ball partially break the plane of the net, you are not allowed to touch the part of the ball that is still on the opponent side. Seeing the motion of the block's hand, I'm pretty sure she overreach on top of the ball. #4 There was no net fault by #10 cause when she touches the net she wasn't considered to be playing the ball anymore. The rule state: "Contact with the net by a player between the antennae, during the action of playing the ball, is a fault. The action of playing the ball includes (among others) take-off, hit (or attempt) and landing safely, ready for a new action. #3 No you are totally wrong. Blocking is the action of players close to the net to intercept the ball coming from the opponent by reaching higher than the top of the net, REGARDLESS OF THE HEIGHT OF THE BALL CONTACT. Players hand were higher than the top of the net so they were considering blocking the ball. The rules also state: Consecutive (quick and continuous) contacts with the ball may occur by one or more blockers, provided that the contacts are made during one action. Which was definitely the case here.

@@katy2010ily about #1 No you can't call for consistency for a rotation call. This is the art of refereeing... Usually, when a player is in a rotation fault the referee should warn the coach first to fix the issue for next play, unless they deliberately attempt to take an unfair advantage which in this case should be called. I wasn't aware of the situation with the previous game, but if they already been warned before for the exact same rotation fault, then the team should be penalized if they repeated the same fault.

As a referee and line judge here in the US, you are correct. But wrong calls always come from substandard or inadequate training... meaning they weren't trained very well.
