What an honor! I've viewed and enjoyed the videos on your channel for years, and now I get to see a watch of my own featured. It will be interesting to see how and why the component failed.

Well! A it happens you'll be able to see that soon-ish (depends how quickly I edit). I need to find the loose bit and I think it'll need a replacement part but we'll see how that goes.

2 in 1. Phylida and Hamilton. Interesting. Thank you. Looking forward to the Phylida rescue.

That looks to be the ST 1902 because it has the 12 hour repeater at the 6 o'clock position. The ST 1903 has a 24 hour repeater at 6 o'clock so that it will show 24 hour time instead of just mimicking the main hour hand.
@spidiq8 Жыл бұрын
Useful to know thank you. I did wonder why they didn't make that a 24 hour subdial.

I have a "alpha" homage which is essentially the same, but with the ST1903. I really like it because it's the closest I'm going to get to an Omega Speedmaster "sapphire sandwich" as I don't have $7000 plus to blow on a watch. I spent just over $200.00 and it took 3 weeks to ship from Europe, but I really like it, and short of some minor nitpicks (screw down crown, and mineral crystal) I really like it. The screw down crown is a bit of a pain on a manual chronograph, but it just keeps me on my toes.

I also own this very nice watch. To adjust the rate deviation I tried to unscrew the cover. I couldn't open it because the screw connection was extremely tight. Is there a tip for opening the watch? Thank you for your feedback!
@spidiq8 Жыл бұрын
If it's very tight a good case wrench is the only answer. If you don't have access and have a local friendly watch shop they might loosen it if you ask. Otherwise a bench vice, case holder and jaxa type wrench.
@DryFluids Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. I tried using a Jaxa wrench, but I only held the watch in my hand. I've always had success with this with other watches. Now I have ordered a watch holder that I can also clamp in a vice. I hope it works. With my question I also wanted to make sure that it really was a screwed watch back.
@spidiq8 Жыл бұрын
@@DryFluids Holding in your hand will result in slipping if it's tight, with the case clamped you can hold downward pressure whilst turning. Be very careful of your crown and pusher position in the case clamp to avoid straining those. If it's this watch and case then yes it's definitely a screw down case back.

Very interesting as I have such a movement too in my Sugess Chronograph👍 …and yes a wristcheck is always nice as we are all watch enthusiasts 👏🏻 that Hamilton is really nice and the caseback looks like a helicopter rotor as the x-copter from Hamilton is a watch for helicopter pilots I guess. 😎
@spidiq8 Жыл бұрын
That could be where they were going with that design. I love the watch. It's a real favourite among my chronographs. This movement should be almost the same barring the subdial at 6 as your sugess.

Hi, love your videos of repairing chronographs, what is the good price for the Hamilton x patrol, I don't want to overpay? Thanks 🙂

To buy or to have serviced?
@BokiPetrovic885 ай бұрын
@@spidiq8 to buy, but also how much is servicing for this watch? Thanks a lot
@spidiq85 ай бұрын
@@BokiPetrovic88 I believe new they were around £1200 and I'm not sure if this specific model is still available but there'll be something similar. Pre owned I would anticipate anywhere between £600 at the low end to perhaps £900 at the higher end. But you must take into account age as well as condition and if it's been serviced. If it's 8-10 years old and hasn't been serviced it will be due one to ensure there's not excess wear internally. A service will range between £300+ depending on the watchmaker.

@@spidiq8 ok great, thanks. I hope some new watchmaking videos coming, really enjoying your videos with explanation easy to understand. Thanks

@@BokiPetrovic88 Thank you. I hope to get some filmed soon when I start on my own projects as I've been so busy with others I've not had the time to film and edit much of anything.

Is it water resistant?
@spidiq84 ай бұрын
I don't know if it makes claims to be and I haven't and won't test it unless it's specified to be. A chronograph will always be more susceptible to water ingress due to the pushers. They do however, have seals in there.
