If we ever were to find alien life, and it looked like this, we'd be blown completely away. Most people seeing these though, don't recognize how crazy they are as a lifeform.

Didn't know about staurzoa before, mainly knew about the basic taught three of hydrozoans, scphozoans and anthozoans. Even though it was brief it was definitely interesting to hear about it as the distinguishing uses of and longevity of the polyp/medusa forms that are common(though of course not necessarily true for all of its members) among the different classes are always interesting to consider.

Fascinating. Scyphozoa reproduce prolifically and can live forever. Seems like the world would eventually be overtaken by this creature. I wonder; do these creatures have any natural enemies? What eats them?
@mushroommunky4272 жыл бұрын
Turtles and whales I think. Other jellies too. Maybe some squid?

Turtles are observed to eat jellyfishes (small ones atleast). Not sure about big ones

Had a guy on my hockey team back in the early 1980s who chirped a lot, called everyone a "gonad" or "chode", I've found those words funny ever since.

Recently saw a clip of a beached portugese man 'o war and people in the comments were calling it a jellyfish but plenty of others identified it and warned about their stings. I believe they are actually colonies of animals that share a flotation organ?
