Great. We stumbled across what might be the rarest species in a cave here in Jamaica a while back, Speleoperipatus spelaeus. Only five had been found before, at one site. Eventually, we found a total of three more at the second site. So, only eight in total ever observed. There are some decent photos and videos if you search online. RS Stewart - JCO.

Very interesting to see these little creatures be social. I wonder how small a creature can be while still being social.
@cedarwaxwing35094 ай бұрын
Well, ants and termites are certainly social, and most of them are much smaller than onychophorans. One does wonder if there is a collective name for a gathering of onychophorans, and what they chat about when they all get together.

The orange colouring seems to be denoted grouping of various insects, so it must be a wider simliar linkage to tis origins, but maybe its al ong shot. THe Larva(scorpion state) of Ladybugs gets taht simliar colour, my inution leads me to state that perhaps there is a triggering simalarity between not the life form, but how the bioworkings are articulating its outside pigmentation... or carapace or whatever they are composed of on teh outside, but that would be strange.
