why Physical Media is way more important that we give it credit for when it comes to film conservation.

When you follow the money, the push for the death of physical disks is a lot more sinister.

Fully agree with you on this video matey.. mentioned to you before I cleared out my whole collection a couple of years ago to go full digital and hated every minute of it.. constantly unable to find the films I wanted or services not being available, WiFi problems etc... very frustrating.. so yes I'm back collecting again and enjoying every minute of it 😁👍

My children have started to come around to appreciating my library of films, when they moved out, they all subscribed to streaming sites and soon realised that they were very limited on choice….. I currently have 4 films on loan 😁 they come over with a list of movies every week, I’m serious considering getting membership cards made 🤣 I’ve also noticed that they have started to buy the odd title too. Nice one mate, take care👍😃👍

Streaming will never replace physical media. They should be able to co-exist and I hope it continues to do so

I own that German blu ray of Ragman/Trick or Treat too. I first came across the film by accident on the Horror channel on TV and had to own it. I usually watch it around Halloween, crazy cameos from Gene Simmons and Ozzie Osbourne!

I hear you about price and all... But the UK is a huge market, you get special/limited editions and you have specialty labels putting out stuff. I need to import a ton of stuff because I live in Sweden. I love a bargain as much as everyone else and go to 2nd hand stores but if I want 4Ks of Argento or F13 or the early Halloween movies I must import and its pricey. I guess i'm not that price sensitive anymore, it used to be that I had to wait a long time and pay customs for imports from the US but since the UK left the EU in a scorched-earth move and left any and all collaboration it's pretty much the same from the UK. It takes forever and I pay customs fees. Its annoying but there's not much I can do.

Bloody Brexit. Even from Australia it was obvious that choosing to leave the EU was about as stupid a thing that any country could choose to do.

@@brycecousens8859 Brexits a weird one for me, I'm Scottish and want us to breakup the UK 😂 Independent Scotland and see about joining EFTA (EU-Lite) was my go-to for a long time. Scotland is only pro-EU because it doesn't deal with the mess being in it caused. UK population went nuts, but Scotland's in the UK and ours didn't even move, so noones moving here and I still got my house cheap 🤷😂 It was mainly England that voted Brexit and tbh I don't blame them, but I did also say it wasn't going to fix anything, horse had already bolted. I sat in Scotland with a big ole bowl of popcorn on that one lol

@@brycecousens8859 Again Scottishness showing, Royalty's a sideshow here. Scots Law and in Scots Law Royalty lost their power in the 1200's I think, that's why they inherited England's and skedaddled off to England. Scotland's a holiday home for the Royals since they get treated like normal up here lol. Why Independence folk don't bother with ditching the Royals, it's not like they do anything so we don't bother lol

I have several thousand records, hundreds of dvds and blurays, hundreds of vhs tapes, thousands of cds, cassette tapes, even 8 track tapes. I have these things for a multitude of reasons but my main goal when I started collecting was to eventually have an extensive library of things, a lot of which I'd never seen or heard, that I could have at my disposal and pull from when I want. I don't collect for people to see it and think it's cool. no one sees it anyway. Also I currently work part time at 2nd and Charles, it's primarily a used bookstore but we also take cds, records and movies. people abandon them by the hundreds every day because they don't want them. To the average person these things are glorified garbage. I take full advantage of this myself, on top of a 30% discount on merchandise. Sorry for the verbiage. I enjoyed your video, I couldn't help but laugh in one of you other videos when you said "i've had this since 2014, I have never watched it." I can relate. Greetings from Louisiana

I have never subscribed to any streaming services of movies. I love physical media be it movies or music. For the most part the World is not what I wish it was, but building a physical movie collection I can make a small part of my reality look the way I would want the World to be. When an obscure movie I really like (doesn't happen often) gets released on Blu-ray, the feel of happiness is there. It feels like the universe acknowledges and even respects my existence instead of the usual depressing indifference. There are insane amount of obstacles with movies on physical media: The rights, the (lack of) will to release something, region locking, languages, availability, pricing, customs duties,... ...a French release of a French movie doesn't work for me if it doesn't come with English substitles (Finnish substitles are too much to ask). Region A-locked Blu-rays are problematic for me, because my region-free player is very old and can't play newer releases (crazy that this is the case but it is. It happened with Arrow's release "Don't Go In The House." I'm not going to pay for a new region free player every time companies decide to author discs in a new way incompatible with older players! The firmware can't be upgraded because the LAZY manufacturers don't offer updates!). That's why I have decided to limit myself to ONLY region B friendly discs. Brexit has been a nightmare for me (as a Finn living in Finland). I will never forgive the brits for this stupid mess! All this so millionaires and billionaires can hide their money from the EU tax inspectors? Now there are things like IOSS to worry about! Does Rarewaves' IOSS works this month or not? Does Arrow's IOSS work? What are the IOSS codes if I need them? Jesus Christ! I used to order most of my physical media from the UK without any hassle, but when Brexit happened, I started to order mostly from Germany, because that way I don't need to worry about IOSS and customs duties. The Brits want to separate themselves from Europe? So be it. This has been heartbreaking for me, because the UK has been one of my favourite countries in the World and surprise surprise, British releases tend to be English-friendly! Prices can be an obstacle too. If the Blu-ray costs 30 euros and the shipping is 10 euros, the price for a movie starts to be intolerably high even if it was a "must have" flick, but oftentimes we are talking about an obscure movie I have no clue if I will like or not. Given all the obstacles (it is crazy how many there are), I buy what I can and try to be happy for what I can own...

I noticed the Sorcerer Blu-ray on Amazon here in Australia a little while back as an option, but passed on it as I was also somewhat put off by the orange cover. After hearing you wax lyrical about it, I may have to revisit my decision.

It's the kind of movie that re-affirmed my love of movies after being in a slump about films. A few movies have done that, Sorcerer, Yojimbo and believe it or not, the first John Wick.
