There are different kinds of deserts like Polar deserts(Antarctic) , Sub Tropical deserts(Sahara), Cool Winter(Gobi) etc. But in the popular terminology when we say desert we refer to the Sub Tropical deserts. Coming to your questions, you are right. The Antarctic is the largest desert in the world if we consider all types followed by the Arctic and then the Sahara. In exam they'll specify which type of deserts they are talking about.
