Steel is more elastic than rubber. We know that Young’s modulus is the ratio of stress to the strain. If the same force is applied to the wire of steel and rubber thread, which are of equal length and cross-section area, we will find that the extension in the rubber thread is much greater than extension in steel wire. Therefore, for a given stress, the strain produced in steel is much smaller than that produced in the rubber. This implies that Young’s modulus for steel is greater than that for rubber. Therefore, steel is more elastic than rubber.
Such a brilliant class . Keep your smile sir. Thanku so much

The Greater the resistance to change the greater is the elasticity of the material & the faster it comes back to its original shape or configuration after the deforming force is removed. By this deflation steel is more elastic than rubber because steel comes back to its original shape faster than rubber when the deforming forces are removed.

Steel :because modules of rigidity =stress /strain . Consider asteel and rubber wire of equal length and equal cross section area . If the same force is applied to both . Then the strain of rubber is more and it's elasticity is less . Steel has less strain and steel is more elastic.

If the same amount of force is applied to steel and to rubber of same length and cross-sectional area, the extension of rubber wire is easier than the extension of the steel wire. So, it can be said that for a given amount of stress, the strain produced in the steel is comparatively smaller than the strain produced in the rubber. Therefore, with the help of Young’s modulus, it can be concluded that steel has greater elasticity than rubber

The strain produced in rubber is much larger compared to that in steel. This means that steel has a larger value of Young’s modulus of elasticity and hence, steel has more elasticity than rubber. Greater the resistance to change, greater is the elasticity of that material. Rubber gets stretched because there is strain produced in it when stress is applied. The larger strain means the material is less elastic.
@fathimaasnapp3 жыл бұрын
Steel is more elastic than rubber,but we think that rubber is elastic than steel . because stretchiness of meterial and elasticity is generally considered as same property, this is a misconception leading to this question. Elasticity : property of meterial to regain its original shape and size after removal of deforming forces Stretchiness : The property of meterial to elongate, regain its original shape and size after removal of forces. More stretchiness means it elongate more ,more elastic means it can handle more deforming force and still won't go permanent deformation. more elastic nature means it have more value for Young's modulus Y= stress / strain = (F/A) /( ∆l /l ) if we give same stress to both rubber and steel which have same length and area of cross section. strain of rubber will be greater than steel. Strain is inversely proportional to Y ,there for steel have high Young's modulus value. Rubber is more stretchy but steel is more elastic, rubber breaks when force increase and will note come back into its original shape but steel not break by increasing force and it's regain its original shape by removing the deforming force Therefore steel has more capacity to bear force so elasticity is more for steel

Steel is more elasticity than rubber. Elasticity is the capability of an object to return to its former shape once a load inducing strain is removed. If you were to drop a steel ball on a very hard surface, it would probably bounce higher than that of rubber. If you drop it on a softer surface, because it would deform less, then the surface it is to bounce off will be the one deforming, so the bounce would be a function of the elasticity of the floor, not of the ball. A strand of silk is indeed stronger than a steel wire of the same diameter. The reason is that metal uses metallic bounds which is not as strong as the covalent bounds in a macro-molecule like the ones in silk. This also explains why Kevlar, carbon fiber, and carbon nanotubes are also stronger than steel. Youngs Modulus of steel is more than youngs modulus of rubber

Steel has more elasticity. Make a wire of steel and a rubber, if we fold the rubber wire it bend easily ( it will not regain it's original shape, it remains same as we bend) . But in the steel it is difficult to change its shape (രുപം) it remains as it is . That means steel has more elasticity than rubber.
