Geophysics is a branch of basic sciences similar as physics ,Chemistry,Geology etc..Its objective to investigate/image/scan subsurface feature of mother earth . Geophysicist scan the earth body similar as Human doctor (MBBS etc.) scan our body, Hence Geophysicist may also called Earth Doctor. There is great importance of Geophysics in Hydrocarbon exploration.

Yes i know ... Geophysics emerged as a separate discipline during the 19th century, from the intersection of physical geography, geology, astronomy, meteorology, physics and offcourse Math I am doing MTech Geophysical Technology (iitR)
