This video is part of a playlist. It is better then you watch the playlist from beginning to end.

Actually, the flute is an air column on both ends - sound is produced by blowing air over the hole in the mouthpiece. The clarinet, on the other hand, is an example of an air column closed on one end. Therefore, the length of a flute is equal to one half of a wavelength instead of a quarter. The frequency that was calculates is actually lower than it should be on a flute.

@timsss128 its from the speed of sound, any equation you need the speed of sound you use this.

@timsss128 Some schools may use v=331m/s + .59m/s/C (T) others may use v= 332m/s + .59m/s/C (T) in which T is subbed in for whatever the temperature is. This will tell you how fast the speed of sound is travelling. This works for any temperature as long as it's an air filled environment.

its the formula to find the speed of sound in the given temperature in Celsius. u can use kelvin but its a diff formula

great video. one thing though. 21C may be the temperature of the room, but it isn't the temperature of the air exhaled by the flutist.

1:30 -Odd. My experiments show the node is at the open end. (dust particles under strobe light) The fipple flute is excited at the upper end where the air is injected by the player. That excitation whips the air into motion. That compressed energy wave travels down the flute, to the end, where a node is formed when the pressure wave encounters normal atmosphere. (Yes, it does seems backwards) Another fact: A pipe with 1 end open and 1 end closed vibrates at 1/4 of a wavelength. The traverse flute, (open both ends) vibrates at 1/2 of a wavelength. THanks for THinking!

@timsss128 it's just a given formula.

you say we have to draw the node in the closed end but my book says the opposite great teaching though
@hirakhalid96588 жыл бұрын
nope your book is wrong. nodes are always formed at closed end while antinode at open
