This video demonstrates the experiment we can do in order to investigate the relationship between the acceleration of an object (with a constant mass) and the applied force.
The experiment involves a trolley that can be connected to a phone, some masses and a piece of string. By dropping some of the masses off a table, we can cause the trolley to accelerate. This acceleration is the acceleration due to gravity. We change the mass of the trolley and the mass that's dropped but the total mass does not change. By changing the mass that's dropped, we change the force acting on the trolley. The force acting on the trolley is equal to the weight of the mass that's dropped.
Once we have our readings, we can plot them on a graph to investigate the relationship between acceleration and force.
The blank and filled in results tables can be found here:

Thank you so much! I'm just really worried about my A Levels this year; it seems like it comes down more to luck and how much the teachers know you for good grades. Your videos help me to hold on to that string of hope that maybe the 'mini tests' would be a heavier weighting than teacher assessments. Thanks again.

Is anything changing in the experiment if the mass is constant? If so, what would the independent variable therefore be?

im a bit confused as to what part of the mass is staying the same in this experiment, as you are removing mass from the trolley, and adding it to the string, right???

Total mass of the entire system remains constant. Total mass of system = mass on trolley + mass added to string. He is using the same number of masses the whole experiment, he doesn't add or remove any. He just places them in different places so the total mass of system is same.

Triple stuff is highlighter in blue - as for higher and foundation you need to check your spec - if you’re doing AQA then I’ve got a student guide on the AQA page you should download.
