Good afternoon professor, Why do we need pretectal nucleus to supply both EWN to create consensual light reflex? Because in the chiasm the nasal fibers are already carrying stimulus to the opposite side. Do all the nasal fibers directly reach LGN without some of fibers entering the tectal pathway?

I've been diagnosed with benign "episodic" mydriasis by a neuro-ophthalmologist, the problem I am having with this diagnoses is it happens everyday at the same times like clock work it does not seem temporary, it started 2 months ago out of nowhere. Pupils are normal in light but produce anisocoria in dark. He mentioned slight dilation lag, the left pupil becomes much larger than the right in dark, more than 1mm. MRI was normal of head and neck. My blood work shows positive ANA 1:320, could this anisocoria be related to autoimmune issues? I am Following up with my Neuro to dig deeper but does anyone have insight as to autoimmune disorders causing anisocoria?
