Hi man! Thanks for all your videos! Best info channel ever! But here you are mistaking. Extra air wich is regulated according to the sensor is giving your carb possibility to get the correct mixture with the smaller jet! Take and check the manual for this carb. Extra air is given when the sensor is cooled and this air is pushing more fuel through the small jet to compensate the mixture. It is like the MAF sensor in your car. Knowing how much air we get allows us to correct the mixture. Yes, it's can be understood as a restriction, but it more about fuel consumption (and euro4 of course). The only problem of this system is, that it is adjusted to a low power.

Thank you we love the support and the knowledgebale comments👍 Yes exactly, it is designed to have less consuption and a cleaner burn-less pollution. But for the tuning mind it is ultimatley treated as a Restriction.

Hey guys. Your video is great and a lot of help to me . Just I have question , I changed the exhaust and 70cc cylinder kit, main jet. What is ratios of oil pump ?? I think , I need to mix engine oil with fuel .

we keep the oil pump, make sure it is functioning correctly. If you must premix oil and fuel try for 30:1 and lean off as required.

I have just removed the restrictions on mine. What a pain. Also the variator ring is welded on! 😢 Had to do it it was so slow. Would take ages to get to 30. And even 20mph. Dangerous pulling out into traffic. Very interested to hear what this Malossi bit is. Great video

@@scooterstreetauThanks. I just brought a new variator. It was £20 plus postage just for a Piaggio Euro 3 variator boss! So nearly the price of a new variator. Shame as the Piaggio one is quite good.

@@aidancarey1364 what was done in the video. But i just blanked off the pipe that goes into the carb. Remove carb restriction, and fitted a bigger main jet. With a new exhaust.The performance is still very slow if you keep the euro 4 exhaust it's so restrictive you have to replace it.

Hi I’m thinking of changing the exhaust on mine, I’m not sure what the line is going into the stock exhaust is though, it can be seen at the very end the two identical screwed on grey bits (look like have been cut on yours) jus wondering what they are as I don’t want to ruin the bike

Hi is this an air cooled model? Would i be correct in thinking a 2020 aprilia sr 50 does not have this solenoid that controls the air? Thank you T

Yes this is air cooled. The Euro4 system is present in some 2018 models from what we see. There is a small air line that runs into the carby on the airbox side and this is an easy way to determine if E4. Which SR50? SRMT or SR50R?

Hello, i have the new 2019 piaggio nrg power 2t Euro4 LC carburator. It also have a solenoid. I plug a stage6 street exhaust other vario weightd and other main jet. Schould i unplug the black and white cable ? Sry for my bad english but i really need help

Disconnecting the solenoid is easier than cutting the wires. It has a plug at the back of it, very easy to remove.

Will the malossi cdi have any preferences benefits over the just disconnecting the this system? (I have a leo pipe) also what is the stock rpm limiter?

The budget way to do it is to disconnect the system. The Malossi system changes the ignition timing and allows the RPM to be elevated to upto 15,000RPM. Go Malossi for Engine and power upgrades. Disconnect the system if you are not modifying the engine/cylinder.

How would you compare this scooter vs the PGO Roughouse 50?? I’m after a 2 stroke before they become extinct. Not after crazy mods. Maybe performance exhaust and derestriction + appropriate rollers and jets at most? I’ve heard some Typhoons can start to bog after this mod? If you can advise that would be sweet. You’ll be my parts store for upgrades. Thanks

PGO has a Minarelli engine and the earlier models are very easy to tune and Mod. I have never heard of or experienced bogging if done correctly. The clutch is prone to bogging on the Mina engine (torque Driver). Send an email.

You don't have to. You must also block the hose from the solenoid to the carb.

I have a china bike with euro 4 principal the same system i have trouble with when engine is cold it dont take gas by engaging gas on 1500 to 2500 rpm it want to go Of above that rpm normal same thing when iy goes warm just litle better and its start on minus 1 outside whit no choke on when choke is engaged it cuts off,Could it be carburetor (I cleant it today) or ECU.thanks

Very difficult for me to say. Check the fuel system and the carby. Pay attention to the fuel tap and auto choke. Test the choke is working properly.

Hi i started installing malossi cast iron 70 cc head and cylinder kit , my plan is to install dellorto phbg 19 ds carb , can i just leave solenoid wires and solenoid and cylinder head sensor secured , do i need to cut/disconnect wire from starter(cdi) unit, can scooter run like this?? I bought scooter few weeks ago its sr motard 50, previous owner already removed spacer from cvt , he also installed gianelli go silencer, so bike already didnt have secondary filter when i bought it.

Hi Romano, when you install the Malossi cylinder you will find out that the temp sensor will not fit into the Malossi Head. There is no fitting point for the sensor. If you want to use the original head you need to change the gasket kit also supplied by Malossi. If you change the carby (Dell 19DS is a great choice) the solenoid system will be eliminated anyway as it only works with the factory carby. Disconnect the wire and you will not have to think of it again👍.

What year scooter is this? I have had problems with my exhaust on my piaggio typhoon 50 2019. Do you know what the restriction on the exhaust is and the size of the main jet any info would be appreciated

I have the same model. The exhaust is so restrictive you really need to change it. There is a silver plate between the carburettor and air box. You need to remove this. And change the exhaust. For a sports exhaust you will need a jet about 64 or 66. They are 6mm Dellorto jet's

Model is 2019. The factory exhaust has restrictors - watch this for the location kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpTNq6esjbSshrM. Original main jet is 56, earlier models had a 53.

No, that will only disconnect the air solenoid for the carby. In the comments there is much info on what and how to get more power from this scooter when derestricting.

Does the 2014 model have a restricted cdi unit? Or does it have the carb restriction?

CDI No. There are restrictions in the carby, variator and exhaust is limited. 2014 was the a great year model for performance parts. Consider differences in each Country. My info relates to the Aus. models

We have not seen this model in Australia. We would expect the exhaust to be very similar to the Sportcity One/Typhoon 50cc 4 stroke.

This is for the Euro4 Engine only. You are lucky, if you own the 2015 you don't need the ECU part.

To my knowledge, the restriction on the factory CDI is 11,000 rpm. You would only ever hit this restriction with a high revving bridge port racing cylinder. Unfortuatnely the only way to remove the rev limit if you are hitting it is with a Malossi Digitronic unit. You also need to ensure that the factory heat sensor is installed on the head, or you will blow a hole in the piston. We have seen it happen a number of times on the Euro 4 engine.

Hi, I've just derestricted a 2018 Piaggio Typhoon 50 following your video, thanks, it made it very easy to follow. One problem I do have though is ordering a replacement carb temperature sensor that you show in the video (about 3mins 20 secs). The UK Piaggio rep says it's not a factory part and is a modification! I know it's not but I can't find a part number to order it, can you help?

Thanks your welcome. Why do you need it / want it? When the derestriction process has been followed the carby inlet device is no longer operating.

@@scooterstreetau Hi, The scooter came to me with a cold starting problem. I found the sensor on the carb had been bodged, I thought that was causing the automatic choke not to work. Is that not part of the cold start system? I have fitted a new automatic choke and carburettor but it still has a cold start problem together with excessive white smoke. I've checked the oil pump timing. It has a 70 main jet and a 30 idle jet in a PHVA 12 carb and stock exhaust.

@@philiphodges6246 Drain and replace the fuel. Drain and replace the Oil. Once you have done this run (ride) the engine for 15 minutes and then replace the spark plug. Now lets start again with the troubleshooting. Qs: Did you test the auto choke? Did you test the compression? How old KMS is the scoot?

Will do. I did a cold compression test and got 120 psi. Not sure of how to test the auto choke, advise please. It has 17000 Kms on the clock.

@@philiphodges6246 120 is good. Watch a video on choke testing quite simple. Check now for a rubber leak, this is checking anything that is made of rubber, check its sealing integrity, Hoses, Seals including orings.

From the setup you've described, you've pretty much hit the limit of performance without changing the cylinder, or installing a higher end exhaust. The headless Malossi Sport 70cc kit works really well on that bike, as it allows you to keep the factory head with the heat sensor. This will make a very big difference to the power

Need more info. The black/white wire has nothing to do with a speed restrictor, it only controls the air injector solenoid. Some countries have a 45kph speed limit by law, most dont. The Australian model which we work on has a rev limiter at approx 10k rpm, this is the only electrical speed limit that we know of.

Hi guys I’m really struggling with a 2010 typhoon I got for my son here in the U.K. We’ve been kinda coping your zip build, malossi cast iron 70 kit, yasuni R derestricted exhaust, standard carb and air box with a malossi red single filter, 6.1g rollers, I’ve got clutch springs but not fitted yet, I’ve ordered a impact wrench to get it apart, started with a 88 jet and she bogs at 3/4 throttle, tried a few jets down to 74 and it’s still bogging, any tips please

Thanks for the Comment Tim.👍 Were there any issues prior to starting the build? Malossi cast iron 70 kit, Yasuni R derestricted exhaust, Standard Carb, Air box with a Malossi red single filter, 6.1g. Start with an 88 Main jet and move the needle to the 2nd leanest clip. Let the bike warm up for 2-3 minutes before making an assessment. This way the choke should be OFF. Rich/Lean test: Let the scoot rev on the main stand, is it clean or spluttering? If not clean you can remove the air box cover ever so slightly during revving to see if a little extra air cleans up the rev, this will indicate rich and then you need to lower the main. If the same bogging or lessening in power then it may be lean so jet up. Start with the carby before playing with the transmission.

By disconnecting the wire will the solenoid stay in the closed position? It looks from the video it rests in the “on” position meaning it’s always letting air in? Good video I’m suprised at the lengths Piaggio has taken 👍 the 2t is still alive (just!)

The solenoid appeared to stop in different positions depending on when you turned the bike off/disconnected the wire. This is why we also blocked the line to be sure.

2 stroke exhaust will not fit 4 stroke engine. Look for a 4 stroke exhaust option👍

got myself a 2016 typhoon 50 off marketplace, its done 50000 kms and has never been service. anyway i got it and slapped in a leovince TT handmade power pipe with all the new bits and pieces. after that it would reach 80kms rather than the boring 60kms, afte r taking it for a bit of a hoon it decided o eject the head gasket while i was going about 70kms currently waiting for a 70cc bore kit to come in the mail to fix it

I just want to take out the variator ring and i wonder if you need to do anything else than just unplugging the black and White wire to the cdi to make it go faster? I have an aprilia sr50r 2019 and from what i have heard it works the same way as the typhoon.

Removing the ring in the variator will give you higher top speed. You will need more modifications to make it go faster. Including the 2 wires.

i was drriving my scooter (typhoon 50 2stroke) untill it started shooting out of the exhaust, im not sure what it is but im thinking is has something to with the ignition system, sparkplug or coil. any thoughts?

The Malossi CDI is designed to operate with the system connected, in saying that we like to replace the carby and remove the connections to the carby when you install a new performance cylinder.

Did you adjust the Jet, rollers and clutch spring set? If not you need to..... Watch our earlier videos on the fitting the pipe to Apriia. The main thing here is the adjust the transmission, start with 6.5 gram rollers and heavier clutch spring set.

@@johngaleotta7976 either is ok. Better to pull the wire from the plug so it can be replaced later if need be. If you later install a Malossi Digitronic CDI you may want it connected.

No, the wire controls the solenoid for the air to carby fluffing system. This will allow you to tune the scooter with a controlled amount of air instead of the air fluctuating based on the opening of the soleniod. The soleniod opens and allows air to vacuum into the carby resulting in a leaner mixture of air fuel. The ECU (CDI) is under testing ATM.

It will not ruin the DR kit, but you need to be aware of the many alterations required and how this system works. Applying the necessary changes touched on in this video. The factory head has a Temp sensor and yu will see this as you disassemble the cylinder.

There used to be Malossi and Tecnigas as an option for these but They may have been discontinued.. So perhaps SITO have an option.

Hello , I have an Aprilia sr 50 2020 with yasuni r and some small changes , I have cut the black and white cable and it goes 80km/h+ , I blocked the solenoid air hose and it stops at 75 km/h and the exhaust sounds more loud , what should I do? Keep the soleonid blocked or opened, when I open the solenoid hose it goes to 80km/h.

So let's say you leave the solenoid open, what is does is allows more air to enter the carby. So check the jetting as it may be too rich. Have you tuned the carby to suit the performance parts you have fitted? Guy's, you ALWAYS need to retune the carby when fitting an exhaust!!

@@geni.zeqiri The air mix screw should be turned all the way in and then 1 turn out and leave it there. I would trial the main jet, a smaller size main jet 60 perhaps, you must try a few different sizes to find the best suitable tune. As you mentioned it had more power when leaner, Check the plug regularly and move the needle position.

Je pense que c'est normal pour le moteur Paiggio 4 temps. Ils sont très lents. La meilleure façon est d'installer un kit de cylindre plus grand. Quelle était la vitesse avant ce problème ?

Hey guys, I have a quick question about the sr mt. How do I change the idle on the scooter? I got it back from a shop that changed my variator belt and weights, but they put the idle super low. How do I fix it?

The idle screw is located in the central position of the carby (Brass coloured wheel or screw), accessed from the right hand side of the scooter over the rear wheel. Think of the idle screw function this way, if I screw it in clockwise the carby slide will lift and increases the rev, that is the same as twisting the throttle. What is also affected is the mix screw, this is located on the same RH side but closer toward the air box (small sunken screw). Turn it all the way in GENTLY! and then out approx. 1 complete turn, leave it there. Goodluck and thanks for watching.

I don't know why changing the belt and rollers can adjust the way the engine idles, I recommend that you ask your workshop if they adjusted this as they may have done so for a very good reason and it wont hurt to ask👍

Hi i just a typhoon euro 4 from somebody.he has blocked pipe as in above video,change rollers, jetted and tt exhaust. The question I have is he has removed the duel cat connector box and there is a pipe sticking up.do I block it or just leave open.Thanks in advance.

Where does the pipe come from, the emision box. Just block it off to tidy or remove from source. Blocking the small holes keep the wasp out.

Hello, my neighbor has one typhoon 2011-2012 (he didn't remember last night what year it was). Its 50cc and he wants me to tune it I'm thinkimg about a 70cc kit and a carb, but do I need to buy a specific carb? Does the stock carb have a temp senzor? Can I put any carb and let the temp senzor in the air, or maybe cut it? Does the cdi need changing? Does the cvt need any adjustemnts? Thanks in advance

The 11-12 Typhoon is not like the one in this video. The early version has not the complex ECU but a simple coil pack. Try for the 70cc kit and exhaust at minimum. @@scooterstreetau an exhaust is pretty expensive, idk if he will accept the price of one. I'm thhinking of modifying the one he has, cutting tubes welding plates :) Isn't the carb a 12mm? If so, that's a pretty big restriction IMO

@@Ju-mw1om The only way to increase this power is to fit the upgraded cylinder kit, now things start to become expensive. We recently fitted to A Vesa Primavera 3V and it also required the gear kit.

Hi, i have one problem with my aprilia sr50r 2019. The problem is that it sounds like its hitting rev limiter but not naturally its like a fast bogging like it hits rev limiter too fast and goes only 59kmh. And the mods on my aprilia is giannelli extra v2, 68 main jet, 6.4g rollers. And i have unplugges the black and white wire and blockes the solenoid tube.

hi when I cut this wire and did a test ride, the scooter was only going 30km / h, on the other hand, the valve remains permanently closed. When I replaced the rubber tubes, I gave air without a valve on the other side and it was going 45 km / h. Can I leave it like this or should it be like the original? For now, it's just testing, because I'm waiting for the delivery of yasuni Z. Thank you for your help.

The carby must be tuned when the wire is cut. So when the wire is removed/cut the carby will move to a richer mix, it will require tuning to get the best result for performance and also for the risk of engine damage. Always keep it slightly rich and then reduce the jet size as required. We recently fitted the Malossi cylinder with the original factory head and the wire cut. Following your Yt channel, replaced the exhaust with a yasuni Z, variator and clutch spring from Polini Hi-speed, removed the strainer from the intake system. The scooter is now ready to go. It has nice acceleration and v max 70 GPS. Thanks a lot !!!

The carburetor remained as standard, the jet was changed to 65 or 70 (sorry, I don't remember exactly). The rollers were included with the variator kit, weight 6.3g. However, I have another problem, the kits also include a clutch spring, blue, much shorter than the original one. After replacing the scooter, it goes a little slower, I wonder if I should go back to the original or replace the entire clutch.

@@heineken01984 It is all about trialling different set ups. The Blue spring may require heavier rollers, so it wont hurt to keep the original spring. Clutch springs will give a benefit to your take off.

Yes, this Vid explains the restriction components Piaggio have integrated into the electrical system of these new models. Bypassing these restriction allows the engine to produce full power.

Sure do, the process is the same for every 50cc 2T Piaggio engine. The Euro 4 models just have either two or three anti-tamper bolts on the clutch cover near the back of the casing which need to be removed. This can be done with the careful use of vice grips. Unfortunately no, disengaging the system on its own will not give the bike more power. The system works well when the bike is totally stock. The benefit to disengaging the system is only achieved when you're installing performance parts such as a performance exhaust or cylinder kit.

50kph is standard. On that model, derestricting the carb and variator, and installing + tuning a performance exhaust will get the bike to 80kph+

The O2 sensor runs the fuel delivery so it must be present on any exhaust with efi. Depending on the model it can be bypassed with an expensive electric O2 controller. Which Make and model name do you have and what do you want to achieve?

@@BenDover-cq4sd Ok, so you can prepare any new suitable exhaust for the O2 sensor. In almost all cases the O2 sensor is attached to the exhaust through a nut in the header pipe. It is simply a hole in the exhaust with a nut welded in a set position to hold and locate the sensor. Copy the factory exhaust in terms of the sensor hole position and replicate it on the new exhaust, have a metal worker weld a suitable nut in position so it can accommodate the sensor. Take note of the depth and the distance from the cylinder. Treat the sensor gently and use a washer or setting compound when fitting the sensor.

I have never tested the fuel consumption on a Typhoon scooter... Over a 5-6 litre tank we are achieving 130kms but this is only an approximation.

HI Dean, look for the common restrictions. Variator, rollers and carby. 4T is slow to start with and we find the upgrade is directly related to the cylinder and intake.

Yes, if you are fitting exhaust only then drop the electrical connector at the solenoid. See video at 1:24 and disconnect the wire connector to solenoid (black wiring where the fingers have grabbed).

Bonjour voilà mon problème avec mon typhoon euro 4 c est que je l ai débridé de partout en polini et malossi jusqu au cylindre kit 50 polini sauf que j ai entendu dire que que pignons de transmission on été bridé aussi pour le moment seulement mes primaires sont de malossi et secondaires d origine j arrive facilement à 80 km/h seulement j atteignais déjà cette vitesse bien avant le kit 50 polini mais beaucoup moins vite voilà ducoup je me demande si c est pas dû aux transmissions d origine ou à mon cdi qui est toujours aussi d origine pouvez vous me renseigner?svp

Bonjour, il est facile de trouver le problème lorsque vous installez 1 article à la fois. Une fois que vous avez installé 1 pièce, testez avant d'installer la pièce suivante et continuez ainsi.

A nightmare to tune. Changed exhaust with a SIto no cat, changed cdu with one without rev limiter (not malossi) , Olympia 70cc, additional air intake tube closed, main jet 74 (for all the piaggio with small air box the main jet with no restrictions is 68 - and is working great) and the scooter won't run. Minimum ok, from half to full trottle very poor air fuel mix. I will try whith a standard 17.5 carb

Sorry to say but it is much better to make 1 change at a time, if it is not too much trouble go back to the start and fit 1 item per time run engine and then proceed to the next part. Start with the exhaust and derestriction as per video.

@@scooterstreetau i worked on scooters for 15 years. This is the first time i have this kind of troubles on a Piaggio. I have a client with a Piaggio Typhoon 2010 (china production) with Top Performance 70cc, original carb with 68 main jet, SITO exhaust and the client has more than 50.000 km working great... This new Typhoon euro 4 with only 9.000 was first equipped only with SITO no cat exhaust (main jet 68 as the model before and disconnecting the temperature sensor) then with ecu and finally with Olympia 70 cc

You need to test the solenoid to see if its still functioning. As it will often get stuck in the 'on' position when the wire is cut, its a great idea to also block the hose from the solenoid to the carb.
