i had one pin made bad contact and thats why the cdi became unstable to spark.make sure the airfilter sponge is clean and never overfill the engine oil because it ll dump into airfilter house and too wet can cause bad starting.clean it with break cleaner.

check the camshaft sprocket make sure that screw is tighten good.Then the chain and the hights of chain tensioner.Funny thing is i had aprilia or piaggio liberty they all start easy but zips always have something.its the cheapest italian so accept that.
