Thank you , I'm glad to have found you. A friend gave me a 96 button accordion earlier this year. Turns out to be an entry level Chinese student model, and luckily I found a very good repairman who has it tuned up and sounding lovely. Right now mainly getting used to the keyboard, I know where the C row is and understand the circle of 5ths. Looking forward to playing along with you :)

You're a very sweet lady for having the courage to encourage others through your initial stages of learning. To a complete novice like me, believe me, it's encouraging.

Im so excited that you did this video. I am 47 and I just found this accordion in my mother in laws house. It was my husbands grandmothers. Its from like the 1940's and still plays. I am a early intermediate piano player so I can kinda figure out that part. This is exciting !!!

Jenny - Thank you so much for this. I have just picked up my Hohner Piano Accordion and can't wait to get playing. The only thing is mine only has 12 bass keys? I have found the home key (it has an indentation). I'm going to try and play 'Oh Dear What Can the Matter Be' following your lead. I'm also learning the Banjolele so if your partner would be happy to do a similar lesson I'd be thrilled! Thanks again.

Hello Jenny I am Hill from Uganda. I knew how to play something little but I had given up many years but seeing you learning from scratch and excellent explanation has encouraged me to pick up the instrument again. I now realise that my weakness is knowing nothing about piano playing. Do you intend to make some videos on piano playing too?You are such a brilliant teacher.

Just a reminder to everyone that the bass chart can be found at mellowbellows.org.uk Thank you to everyone who has so kindly commented on my first ever venture into the world of the accordion (and melodeon). I sincerely hope to add to the tutorials when I have a moment but there is so much to do and so little time!!

I've just come across your video, Jenny - brilliant! I've been learning for a few months, and still can't play a tune without bumbling and fumbling. Should have learned to play the piano first, I think! I'll be following your videos, now i've found them.

I know it's rather late by now, but this could be helpful for every other beginner: start with the bottom bellow-restricter (sorry, don't know the real name for it) fastened. This makes learning to take control of the bellow far easier and as the range of motion of the bellow is restricted (and thus the amount of air you can use to produce sound) you'll better learn to move the bellow in and out at the right moments. Just landed here as I want to take up playing mine again... it's been sitting in the attic for plusminus 20 years now. Really need to start reading notes again... (and sound-proof the place where I will play it...) As I'm into Irish dance for 9 years by now, I would really like to be able to play something Irish...

G'day everyone! I am self-taught for my own entertainment and have been playing for a long time, but somehow, I haven't got the bass right, and my oom-pah-pah is a bit boring after a while, so I am re-learning, which is going to take quite a bit! Cheers.

Jenny, thank you for your videos, and I am going to study with you. I'm 66, and began to teach myself at 16, in a mirror, to see where the keys are. Well, I have been using my middle finger on the C button, which I have now discovered, is wrong, when I should have been using my ring finger. I want to know the fingering chart, to enable me to play better! Once again, thank you.
