Fellow pianists who stopped making progress: Always remember the following: The key to mastering a piece is to find the CORRECT movement and then repeat until it gets programmed into your fingers. Now, repetition means being consistent: You'll see more progress if you practice a difficult passage every day for one hour than you would if you did once a week for 8 hours. I'm no piano teacher, however, I play music such as Rachmaninoff's Preludes and I can really tell you that consistent repetition is crucial. The evil thing is, you won't hear noticeable improvements because they come ever so slightly. But trust me they are there. Playing piano takes patience, if you're patient you already have 50% of what's necessary

SomeGirl Well my teacher is the opposite sadly but I’m actually happy I used to have another teacher that was the opposite of rough. I didn’t learn a lot with him Like I was with him for 3 years and I was so bad I started at 7 and ended at 10 Then another teacher came. A more serious one but teachable Even though she was very rough on me I don’t regret it because I’ve done massive progress in her teachings. I’ve gotten into more skillfully playings and they’re wonderful. And I’ve definitely gotten better at reading the sheets Almost like sight reading if I could say. But I’ve definitely gotten better 😁

I will improve. Since I'm now 80 years old, I've set my expectations very low - to learn to play a few favorite tunes well enough so that a listener won't stick their fingers in their ears and leave the room.

Yeah this is why I play alone, it's harder and longer to learn but I actually have much more fun playing this way, and I never feel forced to practice anything, which makes me actually practice and improve instead of just doing it because I'm forced to. Also some people told me I needed to be able to read sheets to play the piano, but they were not pianists and actually play worst than me because of how much time I practice despite not knowing a lot of music theory. Don't listen to someone else if you want to do something and someone tries to bring you down. Do what you want to do, have fun and be happy to improve at your own pace. Sheer will is the strongest force you can have by your side, if you have it.

It probably depends on how experienced you are when you start to play it. I would suspect someone used to playing arpeggios and cords in both hands could pick it up quickly.
@JodyJody12345 жыл бұрын
What movement?
@zoe.h.nelson045 жыл бұрын
1st and 2nd are fine for an intermediate pianist, but it's probably pushing it for a beginner level pianist. If a beginner did learn them it'd take them ages/not be played correctly. 3rd movement is probably best kept until late intermediate, but even that's pushing it. I'm about that level and it's gonna take me a while! It's manageable to learn for experts, but only the best of the best of the best could sight read it.
@Pythonaria6 жыл бұрын
As an older pianist (in my 60s) who's still learning - we never stop learning, I really enjoyed this video. So many people take up music (any instrument) with the expectation that they'll be playing beautifully with a few days when in reality it takes years of dedicated practice. I do think it's important to get a good teacher though. He or she will stop a pupil getting into bad habits. Even I've got a teacher - and I teach! I just wish more people would take up an instrument no matter how old or young they are. Thank you for a great (and funny) video.
