Thank you so so much, one can never learn enough.. I would like to know more about playing in the background, for example, when someone is praying?

+Jonathan Ang Wow that is very encouraging. Thank you for taking the time to write. I did these videos almost 3 years ago and I am so glad that they were helpful. I am in the process of developing a more comprehensive video series on contemporary piano concepts. Your input is very valuable. Thanks again. God bless you as well.

+Clay Collins that's awesome! looking forward to the new series. Could you share how did set up your MainStage rig? I bought it after reading the comments, going to try hooking my CP4 via USB to my MBP. I'm not sure how does the ipad come into play? Also, what piano sounds are you using? I think it's nice! Do you have to tweak some settings or I could just use it out of the box, like piano sounds on the keyboards? Was also wondering if I can use it to play some drum rhythms while I practice. Bought the Yamaha CP4 and didn't realise there isn't any rhythm. Hopefully I'll be good enough for playing for church in the band one day, but there isn't any way to practice in a band without being in one. What a conundrum ;)

This is awesome. God bless you for taking the time to tackle this subject. I know it can be very tough for classically trained players transitioning to the more rock and synth oriented music we play. I'll be showing this to my keys players! Also, what piano patch are you using off Mainstage? Are my ears fooling me or does it sound too good to be a stock sound.

Hey there. Could you plz tell me which piano keyboard is this. I would like to have one. And what are your thoughts on the m audio keystation 49 mk3?
@claycollinsmusic4 жыл бұрын
Balwanth Hera I personally don’t love the M-Audio keyboards because of the action isn’t my favorite on both the soft and weighted models. For weighted you can never go wrong with Yamaha. Their action is the best. Doesn’t matter what weighted model you get. They are bar none. For soft touch controllers I absolutely love the security series. Beautifully designed and feel amazing. The keyboard I’m playing is a Studio Logic. It’s a great controller but I bit pricey for what it is and I think you get as good or better for a lot chraprt. Believe it or not I also love the weighted feel of the Casio Privia series as well and they are very affordable. As far as sounds go. Get yourself a good used Mac with an SSD drive and buy Mainstage. Well worth it. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply sir. I just had a question in thoughts. What do you think about the komplete kontrol m32? Is it better than m audio? And please tell me your suggestions on the Akai mini mk2
@claycollinsmusic4 жыл бұрын
Balwanth Hera Komolete Kontrol is cool if you have Komplete Software Suite but if you don’t there are better options. Minis are only useful for bass or lead controllers. I wouldn’t make any serious music on one. Hope that helps

These are great tips that should help a lot of keyboardists learn to blend with and compliment the people with whom they play-to learn that in music, with the right approach, 1 + 1 can equal 3. That said, I don't get what there is about this that's necessarily "worship" oriented. Is there something about this that actually requires one to have imaginary friends in the sky? The whole worship thing is very theatrical and historical, and a great example of our tendency to define reality from the position of our own needs and interests-as if we tiny creatures on this tiny speck of dust floating in an infinitely vast cosmos were the most important things anywhere. (You have to admire such audacious vanity!) But what you're doing and teaching here just sounds like music to me, rather than something more dogma-based. Anyway, great job! I hope your "worship" reference doesn't discourage non-religious musicians from watching-lots of them could benefit from it.

I never thought that my worship piano training videos would spark a debate on the nature of the universe. I can understand that your perspective and mine are considerably different. Let me simply give you two thoughts to consider. How can you be so certain that you are a speck in an infinite universe. Have you been to the end of the universe and seen yourself from that perspective? or is that something someone told you and you believed? Whether you claim, as I do, be a christian worshiping an almighty creator or you believe we are the exceptionally fortunate products of a quantum lottery jackpot, there is a measure of faith required to hold on to your position, whatever it may be. Also, I would submit that humans have worship in their DNA and worship is fused in our music. Some worship money in their music, others women. Our worship is centered on our believe in one God, the creator of Heaven and Earth and the very passions within us. I truly appreciate your thoughts and I am so glad the videos were helpful.

Is this some sort of sales ploy? "Piano tips for Modern Worship" ....its the same in any music environment. Please explain why Modern Worship/church's music is different to say...main stream music or any other genre containing piano??? I see a lot of "Church/Worship" is different to all other music...even ridiculously down to mixing.

Peter Russ Actually, I find his to be very good advice. I can relate to his concepts from the perspective of a worship band member. I've seen it all from people overplaying to overpovering to great interaction of band members. Obviously this man is a seasoned worship band member trying to find his place in the whole. I appreciate his thougts. Nowadays much of the music is less arraged but rather layerd. So it is easy for every musician to overplay. It is unsatisfavtory having to turn down the volume and decline on playing notes just because inconsiderate band members over exaggerate. I love to play with condiderate musicians. But as you say to worship music should apply similar rules as to other music. Best Regards amajor7
