My god. The energy in this one is through the roof. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite songs through this, the sheer determination and resilience of the song truly represents the struggle of the Chilean people, A determination that needs to be replicated here in the UK, where the government is using foreign spying as an excuse to go after and send the secret police against anyone Asian, and where our immigration concentration camps are being ran by private companies abusing their detainees and using them as slaves. Long live Chile, Long live the people, long live the workers!

Excellent work Jack!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I love your videos. You should do a cover of "Trabajadores al Poder" the hymn of the chilean Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (Revolutionary Left Movement)

I always love your covers, they're incredible, some are even better than the "orgiginals" tbh. I know quite many say socialism doesn't work, but I think we all can agree that it works in music, almost every socialist song is incredible. If you'd take any suggestions, I'd suggest "Arbetets söner", a swedish social democratic song from about the time when we got our first democratic socialist government led by Hjalmar Branting (maybe a little nerdy but he got the nobel peace prize for avoiding revolution while democratically and peacefully shrinking the power of the king)

"Workers of my country, I have faith in Chile and its destiny. Other men will overcome this dark and bitter moment when treason seeks to prevail. Keep in mind that, much sooner than later, the great avenues will again be opened through which will pass free men to construct a better society. Long live Chile! Long live the people! Long live the workers!" President Salvador Allende's farewell speech, September 11, 1973.

As far as I know (and I am no expert on the history and context) the song is by Inti-illimani in 1970 right when Salvador Allende was elected. Poder popular (people/popular power) is the idea that the working class can have autonomous power outside the influence of the state or capital. In Chile, poder popular took the form of workers taking over their workplace and forming organizations of worker democracy. Cordones industriales were the largest of these, and were set up to pressure the Unidad Popular government into expediting their socialist reforms. The largest growth of poder popular was to combat the employers organizations which, with the aid of the US government, were trying to sabotage Unidad Popular and the democratic road to socialism. I just started to read "Weavers of Revolution" by Peter Winn, which is about what might be the first cordón industrial. I'll probably know a lot more when I finish it than I do now. It seems like the most radical aspects of the chilean revolution was occurring through poder popular, and not the government.

Wow, I can really feel the story of my people speaking through your music, the style and the feelings you put into your interpretation truly transport my heart to the Chile of la Unidad Popular, and inevitably to the tragic times of Pinochet. I’d say this work of yours has a quite enormous potential for helping us Chileans think of peace, unity, and fraternity, especially now in times of writing a new proposal for our Constitution, when the political polarization is at its highest since 1973; and when the new President is working towards implementing a novel, more participative, fair and pragmatic style into Chilean (even South American?) politics.

Love your playing! You ever consider playing some filk (yes, filk is how it's spelt) music? An example that comes to mind is Minus Ten and Counting 16 - Everyman, a song about all the unrecognized workers who advanced the space program. I recommend you listen to it.
