Interesting to hear this shootout. I own Pianoteq and all the add-ons and love playing it. I’m mostly happy with Pianoteq but whilst I prefer some aspects of its sound to any sample library I’ve tried or own, there are still a few synthetic artifacts in places. If I were to buy a sample library from this shootout to compliment Pianoteq, it would be ViLabs Modern D.

Thanks for the video. I just got Roland Earth and like how versatile it is. Piano VSTs have gotten so good!

Which was your favorite? Pianoteq seems to sound better when others play it vs. when I do. Maybe it’s my controller. I’m still on an old Roland MKB-2000.

Play around with the velocity curve and set the condition slider a bit to the "worn" direction" - not straight at "mint".
@RabihRihana26 күн бұрын
It's definitely a velocity curve thing. Watch the velocity monitor graph inside pianoteq and see if you're registering velocities all over the spectrum. You'll know something is wrong if most of the registered velocities you're playing are biased to one side.

Thanks, very useful. I liked Roland Earth th emost, just purchased it ... but no idea how do I download it. What happens next after the payment passes? Roland did not send an email with a link.
@RabihRihana20 күн бұрын
Thanks. You should get emails instantly after purchase and after that, your Roland Cloud application should refresh automatically and it will let you download EARTH. If it did not, then "refresh" the app. I don't work for Roland but my guess is be patient a bit until tomorrow if you still can't download or didn't receive an email. If not, simply send them a ticket.

Modern D hands down

For my part, I have almost all the VSL pianos, ivory 2 and 3, CFX garritan, UVI, etc... Personally, I'm fed up with sampled pianos, no matter the quality of their samples, this make-up falls off quickly because it remains flat and it doesn't react at all like Pianoteq or Earth Piano. I think the super deal at the moment is the Earth Piano at $49 and I'm going to go buy it right away.
@RabihRihana16 күн бұрын
VI labs stuff bridges the gap nicely in my opinion between the playability of modeling (without being modeled) and brilliant sampling. Yes that Earth is a very reasonable deal for the moment at that price.
@onlimi61610 күн бұрын
How do you know how Earth Piano reacts if you haven't bought it yet?
@ChrisBroc12 күн бұрын
Not familiar with Roland VST products. Does the Roland Earth piano require a Roland cloud subscription? Not sure how the purchase works....are you buying a lifetime key or you need a subscription to Roland Cloud to use it?
@RabihRihana12 күн бұрын
You can buy it with a lifetime license. You need to download Roland cloud app and it will show up there. It's still on intro price till the end of November for $49.99. After that it will be $250.

I'm partial to VI Labs because i know the dev and i helped with beta testing. With that said, i like them all, otherwise they wouldn't exist inside my SSD.

@RabihRihana26 күн бұрын
This video is for you to listen and choose a favorite, not me. But to answer your question, they all feel great. I would say Modern D has the edge in playability over the other sampled ones. And EARTH is on par with Pianoteq in playability.
@juancubop10 күн бұрын
Question, what pedal setting did you use with the Roland Earth. On my MODX+ with continuous pedal, I don't believe I was getting good sustain response. Haven't tried the other setting.
@RabihRihana10 күн бұрын
@@juancubopI was using continuous with EARTH but then switched to normal ON-OFF sustain. I suspect it does support continuous but i don't like the response in that mode with EARTH. So yes you might be right.
