how does the pianodisk know which note to hit with just an audio or video file? is the left channel the music and the right information for which key to press?

So, are those music files a special audio and midi combination format? Not standard MP3s or such

Russell, I have a Piano Disc PDS 1000 3 1/2" disk on a Young Chang grand. What can/are the MIDI connections (IN, OUT, THRU) used for?

Midi is a protocol originally designed for synthesizers, it uses a 5 pin cable to send information on what to play. you can use it to hook a computer, a sequencer, or another digital keyboard to play your piano. you can also control software with the midi out. the "thru" is for controlling multiple devices from one controlling source (goes in piano and out the other side)

IN is where you connect a computer's MIDI OUT or keyboard controller's MIDI OUT. The OUT is to send data from the piano to a computer or another keyboard via their MIDI IN. And finally, the THRU passes through (THRU) the data received at the MIDI IN, to control multiple MIDI devices in addition to the piano.

Would sound alot better if the piano was in tune.

Not easy having over 100 pianos in tune at the same time. I never know who is going to call and ask for a video of which piano. We only tune pianos that are being prepared for delivery. Generally most people are content with seeing the piano they are interested in actually exists and is in my possession.
