Pianos of the Nord Piano 5 and Viscount Legend 70s Artist W

Thanks for your clip about these two pianos. I'm just at a crossroads where Nord Piano 5 stands against Viscount Legend 70's Artist W. I think the Nord piano has a higher resale value, but after auditioning them, says the heart Viscount.

Thank you for this demonstration. Even though this was mostly talk, the brief pieces helped demonstrate the sounds well. The Viscount pianos sounds more aggressive and clear. I could use any of those patches, but they are quite samey. The Nord has more variation, and patches I would never use. A couple of them are similar in characteristic to the Viscount; so with the Nord's ability to layer pianos sounds I can get the one piano with the angry lower and the bell-like upper register that I like.

Nord sounds really good, but Viscount is more 3d and a better low end, much more dynamic sounding. The Nord sound is compressed and EQ'd vs the Viscount. I would take both for sure and be happy but for the price and sound the Viscount is a better deal. Nord fan boys refuse to hear it however and will pick the Nord cause that is what they believe the sound should be. It does come down to taste and all, but as someone who is an Engineer and spent many years recording Symphonic music, I don't come at this from a player perspective. The Viscount is the better sound, dont be fooled by compression and EQ. The Nord is made to sound gig ready, it is over processed and is over priced in my opinion. Sounds good at first cause it is bright and the low end is cut with a hefty amount of sample compression baked into the sound. The Viscount is much more nuanced and sophisticated, which will lend it self nicely to processing if you need it.

it's whatever you think that counts. You wanna spend 5k on a stage piano sampler then go a head. You nord nerds just can't handle reality though. @@JoshuaLeviii

Great video Chuck. It sounds like the Nord is more closely related to the original acoustic sounds. The Viscount has a very distinct sound you only hear on electric grands. Honestly reminds me of something you’d hear on a lower end yamaha portable grand.

Nice work, Chuck! The A.Piano module is a must. The quality of the pianos from the Sound Collection module are drastically inferior, imo. It's a velocity/sample thing.

Great review man ! I’d still stick with the Nord. I really wish the Nord Grand could layer pianos like the 5. I do enjoy the feel of the Viscount. Curious.. How is the feel of the 5 verses Nord Grand ?

I would go for the Nord. But why would someone want to piggy back the 2 in a real concert? What function would that serve? They're both sound so similar ( from computer speakers anyway) I remember ( way back) when Farfisa and Hammond organs were all the rage. Do any of these have those sounds Chuck? Great review! You'd piggy back them to get two 88-key keyboards, each playing their own assigned sound/instrument. Each company (Nord, Viscount) makes other boards that have some great Farfisa and other organ sounds.

Nord wins. Always.The piano 5 is a dream machine. Consider putting an upright with a concert grand a mix them to a unique blend.Drop in effects, e. q., etc amd it becomes ( from my point of view) a war machine to address even classic music in a different perspective.Plus you can do same with harpsichord or whatever to address above said purpose. If I would be a seriuos classical pianist I would explore that heavily.
