He's not there to play a boring pop song, of which he can compose about 50 a day, he's there to show us how crazy talented he is. His teacher went to his parents when he was very young to tell them how nice it was that he was taking piano lessons. His parents replied that he didn't take any lessons and that they didn't have a piano at home. He just sat behind a piano at school and was able to play immediately. He doesn't need to get hip hop.

@TheChillMelodist Yep, that's Jordan Rudess allright. He's a very accomplished keyboard player, but he just LOVES overplaying. "Too many notes" is his method operandus unfortunately. He doesn't pay heed to what the song needs, he wants to show off and plays the most tacky, tasteless improvisations. I actually like show off musicianship, but Jordan Rudess is too much for me. The instant creativity and ability to swap between completely different ideas are inspirational. I do not know one thing about music, but I play around with improv acting as a hobby and really do admire the speed and range of his creativity showcased here. There's a lot of multitasking going on in flowing smoothly from one idea to the next. Neither getting stuck with in train of thought, nor getting jumbled with too many ideas at once. To keep that headspace whilst performing requires 100% pressence and a deep rooted technical ability. I take my hat off, sir!
