Michael that is awesome content. When I finally realized after several months that learning the pentatonic scales will take me or any player to the next level I started searching for some great tutorials. And today I found your Channel. Here you are teaching them all in one place and very effectively. Fantastic : )

Inspiring, Sangah makes it look attainable, just take time and practice simple things. Learn a few more things. Practice. Incrementally add more, practice more. Then kinda scary when you see her put it together with even more things added. It would be nice to be able to play like that, I want to get better, but I'm glad I can listen to her play better than I ever will. I enjoy playing, learning, improving, but I really love listening to others too. Thank you Pianote and Sangah.

"the secret to playing jazz is adding more notes" is the BEST and biggest 'secret' I ever learned for myself - just throwing in those handful of neighbor-notes instead of spacing everything evenly sounds so much cooler, more organic and changes the way you look at any key/fretboard!! Playing music becomes FREE and truly expressive again - I absolutely adore this and Lady Noona, you make music the way it's MEANT to be made - for FUN and satisfaction!!! 🙌🎶🎉✨ Edit: "you just made a jazz!" is now my favorite phrase and I will be using it from now on, THANK YOU

I love how you teach and play Sangah and feel as though I finally have a chance of getting into playing jazz. I have one thing that I’m slightly struggling with here. Could you please briefly explain the difference between 7th and 9th in major chords and dominant 7th and 9th in minor chords?
@philipofsparta13552 жыл бұрын
This is a great video but, to be honest, Sangah is a bit misleading here. When she says 'dominant seventh' she actually means 'minor seventh'. 'the 'dominant' is a chord built on the fifth note of the key/scale not a type of 7th. The seventh note in a dominant chord is always a minor seventh because it's actually the fourth note of the key/scale. Here though, the 'dominant seventh she sometimes wrongly refers to is actually NOT the dominant chord - which would be C. A D Minor chord in the key of F is actually the 6th/submediant chord. Basically, she should have said 'D minor 7th. To answer your question though, unless told otherwise, the 7th and 9th in a major chord are by default the 7th and 9th notes of its major scale and the 7th and 9th on a minor chord are by default the minor 7th and major 9th/2nd of its scale (the notes in its descending melodic minor scale) I hope that helps - sorry it's taken so long to explain!
