Correction-1: At 9:57 I said that "char" is "signed" by default; however, in C, "char" is an exception and has no default signedness. Make sure to explicitly state "signed" or "unsigned" when using "char" if it matters. Other data types (int, long etc.) ARE signed by default. Correction-2: At 9:36, 32-bit numbers are supposed to be able to represent values between "2147483647" and "-2147483648".

No books, just "XC8 User's Guide" and general C knowledge.
