I've watched a lot of "no contact" readings recently for obvious reasons, and yours is one of the most understanding so far, it's not about just feelings, it's about the whole situation. I do see that my person is way to strict to himself and under huge stress. I cut our connection, cause he refused to clear things up, he was all "I can tell you nothing, I can't be with you just because I can't". I feel like it was necessary. He never told me that he didn't want me, only 'I'm a mess right now and I can't give you what you need", so I gave him a much needed space to deal with things. If I'm right and he truly has something for me (we were just friends at a time), sooner or later he comes back. Also, it occured to me, that his hesitancy may have something to do with a fact, that I'm a newly divorced single mother and he is younger than me... I don't need marriage, but his parents may be disappointed by his choice of a partner a lot.
