Gave a video like. Great choices for the VR! Bo Jackson was one of the best athletes of all-time for me. Doc Gooden was big time. Valenzuela was incredible. Not many players get to win rookie of the year and a CY award in the same season. Appreciate the kind words and participating in the VR, Jim!

Thanks for the contest Brian! It was a great idea and I really enjoyed doing this, as well as watching everyone else’s VRs too! So many under appreciated non HOFers over the years! Valenzuela, Gooden and Bo were three guys who provided a lot of excitement and increased interest in the game! The 80s were a fun era in sports!

Great VR Jim. Enjoyed hearing the HR story. Bo was a phenomenal player. Love the display of cards you showed. Never gets old looking at the shoulder pads card.

Thanks bro! That’s so cool that you went to Exhibition Stadium! I bet that was a great place to see a game! Didn’t they build a football stadium in it’s place?

FUN VRs! Great memory of your first game at Fenway Park ⚾️ I'm like you, Jim, I followed Bo Jackson! I loved collecting his cards as a kid! R.I.P Venezuela It was great to see the Dodgers wear the 34 patches during the World Series as a tribute to Fernando ❤ Thanks for sharing, Jim

Thanks brother! Yeah man Bo was such a fun player on both the football and baseball fields! Just a great athlete! Thanks for watching!

It’s great hearing about your stories, Jim. We’ve had some similar experiences going to watch the PawSox at McCoy and the Sox at Fenway. It really is breathtaking walking in and seeing the grass. My first game I watched Greenwell hit a homer a few rows in front of me and he instantly became my favorite player. Ironically, I got to watch Bo and the Royals at Fenway. I remember the buzz in the stadium that day. Bo was on top of the sports world back then. Thanks for sharing, Jim
@PickerJimSАй бұрын
Hi Hugo! Yeah man two kids growing up in RI we definitely shared similar experiences! McCoy was such a fun place to go, the players were so accessible and were always chatting with the kids and signing autographs! I definitely have a ton of great memories from there! Fenway is just awesome, loaded with history and nostalgia. So cool that you saw Bo play there! Fenway definitely gets buzzing during big games! I appreciate you watching buddy!

Hey Jim! Way to show those cards. Tony and Brian are two great guys. Both very supportive. You won’t hearing any complaints from me about showing more cards. Nice memories of players you enjoyed. I like the 79 Topps Rice too because he is smiling. I always thought Yaz was so serious too because he didn’t smile on his cards, but he was as quite a jokester. I love all three of your non HOF choices. I thought all three would be HOFers when I was watching them. Especially, Gooden. Thanks for sharing.
@PickerJimSАй бұрын
Thanks Terry! Jim Rice definitely had that reputation as a surly guy on and off the field so seeing g him with a big old smile on his face on that 1979 Topps card is nice! Bo was such a great athlete and that Nike “Bo Knows” advertising campaign was absolute gold! Everyone loved him too! Fernandomania absolutely captivated the nation and Gooden burst onto the scene like gangbusters! It was a great era to be a sports fan!

Couple of great VRs Jim. Fenway is top of the list of parks I still need to see. As a kid I remember the first time I walked into Dodger stadium. The only time I got that feeling again was when I walked into wrigley for the first time! Bo would have easily made the football Hall of Fame and maybe baseball also. Golden was a beast for a few years and Fernando took the game by storm! All great choices!
@PickerJimSАй бұрын
Thanks Steve! I hope you get the chance to get to Fenway some day, there’s so much history and nostalgia a true baseball fan like yourself would really appreciate it! Bo was a legend for sure! I appreciate you watching!

Hi Jim! Solid job on the VRs, my friend. It was fun hearing about your first game at Fenway. Sorry that the Sox lost but what a memorable moment for you. Also, I loved your picks for Hodges VR! Bo was my guy and I’ll never forget the homer he hit off Rick Reuschel in the all star game. Vin Scully’s call was fantastic saying, “Bo Jackson says hello!” Awesome stuff! Take care, buddy!
@PickerJimSАй бұрын
Yes! Ronald Reagan was in the booth as a commentator and Bo lead off with a HR, Scully made that classic call! Wade Boggs followed with a back to back HR! That was classic! Bo ended up the All Star MVP too! I appreciate you reminding me about that game Rob! Those were the good ol’ days! 😁

Hey Jim! Enjoyed your recounting of your first game at Fenway. One of my regrets is not having attended a game there. I came close once, but I ended up doing something else that evening. It's a shame what happened to players like Gooden and Darryl Strawberry. But they still managed to have good careers.
