Aye ,i was there and had been to work all day,heard it was kicking off so us council workers clocked off early and went down the colliery to show our support,oh joy lol.Took us 2 days to get our David out of the nick at Peterlee lol.

The mine long closed down with the loss of well over a thousand jobs, in 2023 most of the shops are boarded up and the pubs closed down.
