Thank you so much, I managed to open my grandpa’s old case with this (after trying for the past two hours) Edit: we found two newspapers (barely holding together) from 1904 in there
@waddac23 жыл бұрын
You are more than welcome and glad the video helped you. WOW!!!! That is amazing regarding finding the newspapers from 1904 and hope you managed to save and keep them. I once picked a lot of very old lockers for an engineering company which were full and thick of dust. I found in the oldest locker a piece of teak wood with a brass engrave plate on it saying from HMS Snap Dragon which was a rescue boat during the 2nd World War. It was a civilian ship and saved hundreds of lives but sadly got hit my a torpedo from a German submarine. It was salvaged years later due to courage and teak wood was used to make letter openers as a remembrance. I had to clean and polish my find and have it on display with my vintage locks. An Australian museum has an identical one, but mine after a clean is in far better condition. I felt like Indiana Jones when when I first found it and cleaning dust off it. LOL. Again, glad the video helped you.

I might be wrong, but I think that style of "lock" is just a latch disguised as a lock. If its like the ones I have, moving the whole fake cylinder part with your fingers in some direction (left, right, up, and/or down) disengages it. No tool required.

At the time tried everything, so lock does actually work with a key. Hence reason for the video.

there's a better way. I have an old 60's wood and vinyl record box, with.keys long gone as it came in garage sale.Too good to throw out. So I just got a bit rough with it, why not not, couldn't use it? I found you can prise the front off the lock as its just a cover that is held in with two metal tabs. . Under there you'll see horizontal tab in a slot that moves to lock/unlock ect. Push the tab to the unlock position - it was to the right on mine - and leave it there. Push the cover back on. Job done. It will open and close as normal with no screwdriver ect.
