A Lincoln Riely to a QB headset is just straight up scary for any defense. The guy is one of the best play callers around and to get that added play calling access is going to be huge for him. Also the iPads on the field with play recalling is going to be big as well. Lynn has that experience in the NFL and will have a big advantage with all the other coaches he has under him. They basically have a team of NFL assistant coaches and head coaches from other programs running the ship now. If their defense has a 20-30% improvement… watch out they’re going to be a lot to handle and could be making this a 10 point game of greater in their favor.

LSU will use their lopsided Oline advantage and maul your Dline. Those WRs y’all love so much, probably won’t see the field often. LSU is going to run, run, and run some more and USC will fold their tents.

Word is LSU's front 7 is better than you think. Their strategy will be aggressive to make up for the cornerback issues. If they can manufacture pressure, I think LSU wins. Their oline opens up a balanced attack that I firmly believe USC can't hang with. Give me LSU by 10 with ball control and winning the LOS

@@AlexLightGiver LSUs defense has much more talent outside of Perkins. The world simply doesn’t know them yet. Remember the names Whit and West Weeks, Bradyn Swinson and Dashawn Womack. Our d tackles are the question marks we are curious to see but the LB room and edge rushers aren’t going to be the issue. Corners are a ?? For us as well so we curious to see how they do against those receivers.

If LSU loses then it’s going to be a tough season ahead. Please please please beat SC. I can’t see how their defense holds up. Their DL should be much better but with LSU having an elite line, could counter the best position group SC has. Can’t see DB’s on USC all of the sudden have the ability to tackle. Maybe SC has improved on both lines but for a LR led team to all of the sudden be physical, would be one of the greatest miracles of our time.

I liked what I saw from Nussmeier in the bowl game against Wisconsin. Not convinced either defense will be that much better week one but if I had to pick anybody to really stand out it would be Harold Perkins.

Blake Baker played against 2023 Jayden Dainiels LSU offense, which from a statistical standpoint was one of the greatest college offenses of all time. He also played against 2022 Tennessee, which was a top 5 offense that year. Not to mention 2022 and 2023 Georgia, both of which were top 10 offenses.

I do believe Lincoln Riley is an incredible offensive mind and quarterback coach. I haven't seen enough of Miller Moss to know if he's the next great Riley QB, but regardless, I doubt USC's offense is gonna be outside of the top 15. I just don't have any faith in Riley fielding a defense. Brian Kelly, on the other hand, had one bad defense and went nuclear on his staff. You see an undrafted guy like Omar Speights who couldn't tackle or be in position for anything last year at LSU make an NFL roster with one of the highest PFF grades in the NFL preseason. He didn't learn to play football in a few weeks of NFL camp. I think our defensive roster is deceptively good, but suffered a coaching shit show last year. We have one of the best defensive coaching staffs in the country after cleaning house. So I think we'll be much improved.

​@@haydenmichelli3065look at UCLA defense two years ago and what he changed in one year there. USC has more talent than UCLA did. USC secondary is completely different. Two UCLA guys and Oregon st safety. Also another Oregon st guy who was a first team pac 12 linebacker. USC's biggest unknown is the DL. Well they don't have much experience back ups but they all are way bigger than they were last year. They have really bulked up and won't be as easily pushed. I don't know wtf USC defense coordinator the last two years were thinking of wanting guys to lose weight...

Look for LSU to attempt to run right up the middle of the USC defense and take shots when they see the opportunity. Nothing supports a developing defense like ball control offense. I don't think USC has the dogs up front to stop it.

Don't touch this game, much like FSU, LSU loss too much production offensively to touch this game, if you were going to back USC you missed the best of the number at +7. Side Note Brian Kelly QBs typically don't find their groove until Yr2, compare Jayden Daniels stats from Yr1&Yr2 big difference. I do think USC defense will be much improved with their new DC Lynn. Riley is a wizard with QBs very crafty play caller, LSU OL is massive and very talented, this game will be won in the trenches for sure. Side note this game is played at Allegiant Stadium, Allegiant uses 2 different surfaces Raiders prefer grass while UNLV prefers turf,no idea which surface is being used for this game, this is pass for me, it's a coin flip game but too much variance to take a side.

Doug Belk: 5 years at UH, 3 of which were as DC. Shaun Nua (retained from 2023) NFL & Super Bowl experience. Moved from interior DL to his natural position at DE. Taylor Mays: NFL experience will now coach safeties. After Grinch and staff were fired, Mays and Nua developed the USC defense for the Holiday Bowl which shutdown #15 Louisville. Same. It amazes me how everyone has not done any research on SC defensive changes. The only half a$$ explanation is that Lincoln Riley never has a good defense.... That was because he always had Alex Grinch as a DC. Grinch was so bad that he just had to be fired and SC defense got an upgrade defense for the bowl game. Everyone thinks LSU is just gonna run the ball on SC with no answer. LSU is gonna need to throw the ball alot to win. lt will be a good close game. I doubt LSU defense will be as good as Louisville defense and we saw what Moss did to them.
