Hi...and thank you for your comments...The Lady in the video was in fact petite herself..(size 6 and 5ft)....headsizes on classic fitting hats can be a problem as the High Street do not stock sizes and so unless you are 57 cms headsize you can be a bit at a loss...You can add velvet or some packing to the fitting on the inside so that it grips and "volumise" your hair to disguise any gaps...Any hat with an elastic at the back of the head under the hair line will pull the hat to your forehead..

Hi Sandra...Wear the elastic under the hairline so the hat pulls onto the forehead...if hat is too far back it will pull off..a bit of hair spray makes hair more rigid and less "slippery"...If really windy a grip either side of the hat on the elastic can help lock the hat down...Seasons Greetings..Hope this helps..

Hi Patricia...Thank you for your lovely comments...Of course none of this would have been possible without the mastery and magic of Rumble TV...who really got into my World...Anyway...in answer to your question: Royal Ascot...bless 'em define a "head-piece...aka "cocktail hat"...as we used to call it as a base with 4" diameter...aka "skull cap"...The skull cap is a base with usually a curved surface to accomodate the contours of the head...

Hi Laura....Thank you for your compliments...Without seeing your hats it is a bit tricky to advise...however...if they are 40's then I would summise they would be smallish brimmed hats (which typically then were reconstituted trilbies as materials were in short supply)..if so..check out Garbo or Crawford...over the eye, at an angle towards the front of the head rather than the back...this should compliment your jaw line..Hope so...Good luck...Philip

I just watched your video, Mr Wright, I loved the passion you show for your art which is also your profession. I inherited two hats (1940's I think) from my grandmother. She and I have the same colouring-dark red hair, pale white skin, same height but I am much more rounded and she was much more handsome. I am wondering how to wear those styles in the 20-teens era. Too bad we are on the opposite sides of the world. I think I would be saving up each year to buy a hat from your team! Kind Regards

Hi Patricia...In the meantime a small shape with a side band or side elevation with 4" + diameter is a "pill box"...Yay!...A fascinator is a chicken's bum on a comb...or I guess anything that is mounted on a comb without the 4" base aka "hair decoration"..LOL..."Hatinator is a new word which will be forgotten soon... I never found fascinators, in most cases, ever flattered the face or eyes...only the hair...whereas a hat creates "line" in symmetry with facial bone structure..

As soon as the black vintage hat at the end was put on, I was like... I have that hat! Mine's from years and years ago, and looks like it needs a bit of reshaping, but it's so cool to see I had one of these hats. ^_^ I have no clue where I picked it up. Anyone know what type of vintage attire goes with it? Normally I wear it with jeans and a sweater.

Shape wise...As in the video.. find styles that don't hide your face that cause people to talk to a brim and not to you...Angular tilting when worn...not only enhances the bone structure of the face...but also adds "lift" and height...and again reveals the face... Small "pill boxes are in"...Mine are designed to be worn on the forehead just touching the right eye brow or nearly...not like the pill boxes in the 70s and 80s when they were worn at the back of the head...Good luck..

Thank you for your videos. I make hand stitched pillbox hats from vintage silks and lace with six layers of fabric and cringe when people mistake them for fascinators. Do you have a good definition to describe the difference between a hat and a fascinator? I have been telling people that a hat is at least 4 inches in diameter, but am not sure that is the accepted rule of thumb.

At 1:25 the hat the model is wearing. What tips do you have to keep it on. I tried on 2:35 but I have the same problem they keep falling off. Any advice would be appreciated. I forgot to say, I live in Texas and I live off the coast gulf, the winds here can get really strong.
