You talked about finding a dealer that doesn’t charge fees and so forth. That is good advice. Locally, I found all dealers would charge extra destination and setup fees amounting to a couple grand. Then, they would add accessories that I didn’t want and try to force you to buy the items as a way to further pad their profits. I would have considered a can am product instead of the Polaris ranger xp crew I purchased but I could find a can am dealer that wasn’t employing these tactics. The Polaris dealer required a drive but they started at msrp, applied a 500$ manufacturers rebate and then a $1000 dealer discount for a purchase price of $1500 below msrp and did not require me to buy a single accessory.

I’ve got a couple of videos on here of me dealing with different dealers across Kentucky and Indiana. I’ll post one in the comment below this. It has two more videos in the bio with the same process and it shows what I paid. I hate seeing people getting screwed out of their money. If I was in your boat, I would’ve done the same thing

Yeah. That is a great video. Should help a lot of people. The closest price I could get locally was a true 3k more than the no fee, discounted volume dealer I ended up buying from and that doesn’t account for the forced accessories the local dealer required.

I have a 22 F350 SRW and just had the voluntary recall done on mine. They reprogrammed the ECM and TCM. Now it runs at a lot higher RPM and shifts at a lot higher rpm also. When I called about it they said the reprogram changed up the torque band.

It was coincidental that you spoke about engine rpm vs speed and related noise as I just did some of these same comparisons on my new ranger xp crew vs a friends older defender max. I did the test bc lower rpm’s would generally translate into lower noise levels, something that matters to me. At 4000, the ranger ran 19 mph and the can am 21. At 10-11mph and 4000 rpm’s in the expedition is certainly geared low, especially for high range. I’ve watched many of your videos, excellent work

Thanks buddy! I appreciate your comment and info. I love the expedition gearing for woods. Not so much anywhere else.

Probably not if interest to you but coincidentally, I found a video of a Texan ranch realtor who said the most important thing for him in a buggy when showing clients ranch property is for the ac to be powerful and the cab noise to be low while driving at 15-20 mph so he did a sound test with the expedition, defender and ranger crew. The interesting thing was, he said the new xpedition did not have the factory clutch, the dealer changed it out to drop the rpm’s by 2000 vs stock, to reduce the sound level. It sounded like the Texan was doing the test but he purchased the xpedition, and the clutch swap was part of the deal, meaning, he liked the xpedition but was concerned about noise so this was a cost effective solution. @@americandream_89

@@davide3129 yeah I’ve seen a ton of people on the forum doing the swap. I think it dropped the decibel between four and 6 dB. It’s called a AA cruiser clutch kit from assassin.
@americandream_89 Жыл бұрын
@davide3129 Installed the AA cruiser clutch kit and did some testing. I didnt do the full '3 slug' cruiser weights. I emailed AA for a 'medium cruiser' setting and did slug/3/3. I used a sound meter app on my phone and a drag race timing app. May not be the most accurate, but better than nothing. Sounds dropped 1-2 db. Sound doubles every 3 db. It is noticeable. RPMs dropped 3-500 from 20 to 50mph. Acceleration testing was actually faster by a hair. Very happy with that. I then installed 32's and redid testing. RPM went up 1-200 and it's a hair faster accelerating. I may add a bit more weight in the clutch. Install isn't hard. I didn't even pull the primary. Proababy the biggest sound improvement is WOT/ peak rpm. Now it's 89 db at 8100 pm. Prior it was 93 db at 8500. This was one guys conclusion
@davide3129 Жыл бұрын
Oh, gotcha. You are already well versed on all this, so great. Nothing wrong with tweaking to get it the way you want. Part of my interest here is also self serving. I bought the new 2023 xp1000 crew premium with 27” Pro armor tires and while I only have 165 miles on it, the noise and ride quality are slightly less that I prefer. Assume the 27” combined with 14” rims and 8 ply tires are stiffer than what I’m used to so thought I would switch to bighorn 29-30” in 6ply for more sidewall cushion and softer tire. I also thought the taller tire would reduce the rpm’s slightly but based on something you said, maybe they go up with a larger tire. I’d like the tire swap to reduce rpm’s so noise level goes down a tad. It fine but any reduction in noise is welcome in my book and if I can improve ride quality that’s even better
@scottg9208 Жыл бұрын
Good looking machine! I wonder if part of the ride quality difference between it and the Defender and Ranger might be partially due to the fact you are sitting down in bucket seats versus being on a bench seat. I know the shocks are totally different and make up the big portion of that ride.
@americandream_89 Жыл бұрын
It’s mostly shock package and placement of shocks. Where is a defender is more straight up and down for bed loads. This one is set up kind in between.

The chambers on that hose going to the CVT is to reduce the noise from the clutches. I wasn’t sure either had to look it up.

I have a 2024 Polaris Xpedition XP 5 -- WAY TO NOISY - revs too high - apparently according to Polaris customer service - their engineering is DILIGENTLY working on a fix-- I REGRET MY PURCHASE - this is probably due to improper gearing (too LOW) I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE AT ALL - Please note that there have been HUNDREDS of complaints about this problem and POLARIS is dragging their feet - PS - I have added sound barrier to area behind and under the seats and on the firewall in the engine bay - this helped the noise a bit but the HIGH revs are UNPLEASANT to say the least - OK if you have earplugs or you are hard of hearing - otherwise PASS PS I traded in my 2021 Polaris General and regret it - also the ADV is even nosier that the one with the dump box

Do you ride the highway mostly? It’s loud compared to a ranger or defender in the cab I do agree. I don’t think it’s bad in the woods though.
