My dream car right there buddy you're killing me. Awesome video thank you for sharing

Hey, I appreciate the view. This car has definitely been fun thus far. It's by far not my dream car, though. That title belongs to my 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring.

I wouldn't mind having that old buick. Good luck on the hot rod.

One of my top 2 cars I ever owned was a 4 door 72 Dodge Dart, It wasn;t anything special, 318, automatic on the collum, AM radio to start, which was one the of the 2 things I changed, and it was Triple green, Green interior green paint and green vinyl top, but DAMN was that thing fun to drive, I was an instructor in the Reclass/Combat Instructor in the Army then and travelled alot and I ALWAYS took the Dart.

There's always something special about a dead simple, no frills car. My other mopar, a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring, started out its life in my care as a hot rod. It had no interior, a cammed up 318 and enough body damage that I decided to keep it a hot rod. I wish all the time I could have a clone to that car that's all stock down to the factory 2.71 gears it had. It's just such a nice car to drive even with the manual steering, manual brakes and gutted interior. I have other cars to fit that niche, though. I don't need another car.

@@VintageAdventurerDrives Yep exactly, Not alot of wham wham's and zuzu's that can go wrong, it's a simple suck-bang- blow, operation. The only 2 things I changed on the car in the 8 years I had it was putting in a AM FM CD/USB radio and I took off the factory Hubcaps sandblasted the rims and repainted them white and put Baby Moons on it.

Thanks a lot! I'm working on making a new video with some exciting content. It's tough to get the excitement through the drudgery, though.

That's a 1971 Skylark. It's a lot nicer on the driver side than the passenger side.
@junkyard_DКүн бұрын
The car has potential. It probably was a nice runner back in its day. The "builder" may have done it right initially. Hard to tell how many hands its passed through since '74. Following 👍

Who knows what all this thing has been through. I'm just trying my hardest to make it into a good, solid car. I truly have pride in every part of the car I've touched. Luckily, the big block swap looks like it's done decently well, so hopefully I won't have issues out of that.
@junkyard_DКүн бұрын
@@VintageAdventurerDrives It looks like you are on the right track. That 400 block might be a 451 stroker. You may want to measure the crank stroke to verify.
@VintageAdventurerDrives21 сағат бұрын
@@junkyard_D No matter what the engine that's in the car actually is, it's not my final plan. I have an offset ground forged crank that will turn my other 400 block into a 424. The 3.525" stroke will work well with higher rpm and will allow me to use the smaller 2.200" rod journal. I'm hoping for a combination that will live happily shifting at 7,000 rpm.

Did a '76 "Custom" sedan. BAC front set up, rear sway bar with XHD rear springs, 12" front rotors, 11.25 rears, 318 with a bunch of work, headers. 2.5" stainless exhaust w/X crossover... Its set up to do long distance runs, TDS events, Trail of the Dragon

I've got some plans for 318 content soon with my 1971 Plymouth Satellite. I don't think I'll ever compare to the road race style build you're speaking of, but it's a fun car regardless. It has the Mopar Performance XHD springs as well.

You're going to get a bit of attention with it...I have a '76 sedan, it's clean and a stealthy build. People really like it, get 📸 & comments, waves all the time

hokey pokey ignition system tbh

I've got a plan to make things better. The entire front of the car is going to be rewired.

If you plan to run the car with no air cleaner, I would think very hard about about getting all of the rat feces, nut shells and other small debris out of the engine bay and intake manifold areas.
@VintageAdventurerDrivesКүн бұрын
It's definitely going to be run with an air cleaner. I just haven't gotten one for the car yet.
@paulprecht978628 күн бұрын
That is one serious hack job.

Believe me, I know. The "builder" of this car should never touch a car again.
@livinglikarockstar26 күн бұрын
reverse manual value body... they knew what they were doing, electronic ignition does not need ballistic resistor, adding one is going backwards and may not run correctly. Roll bar definitely sketch. drag racing on a budget, no regrets.
@VintageAdventurerDrives25 күн бұрын
That's a points distributor. I made a comment on that. As far as a reverse manual valve body, that much I can't comment on. The thought crossed my mind, but based on the workmanship I've seen from the rest of the car I highly doubt the "builder" knew how to mess with transmissions to install the manual valve body.
@livinglikarockstar25 күн бұрын
This cars setup is strictly drag, not street/strip. 12v for 14 seconds keeps it hot, not stepped down for reliability but i guess you knew that.
