Love her! She's so adorable and Yuki is so sweet too! We brought in a new pom mix pup last year to our parent's place to meet our family dog (also pom mix) he was so jealous and wouldn't let her near him. He has warmed up now and they play, but it took a while.

Grats on bringing Hina home! I have a kuroshiba as well. Get ready for a lifetime of people calling her a husky puppy! Shiba puppies won’t start shedding til about 8 months or so, and will start with their puppy coat. It isn’t quite the same as a shiba blowout which will follow the next year or maybe the next season-ish after adulthood. 😉 My breeder recommended a zoom groom/rubber brush, greyhound comb, and undercoat rake (no furminator!). These have worked great the last two blowouts for my shiba. Chicken allergies are pretty common for shibas so hopefully the vet can nail down what is bothering her. Can’t wait to see Hina grow!

That’s great! My puppy screamed every 3 hour intervals all night long. The screams last for about an hour each time. This happened for 3 nights before he settled in 🥲 he screamed when he went to the vet for his vaccine too. He’s a schnauzer

I might make a video on it but it wasn't easy getting her and I just got super lucky. The person who was supposed to take Hina didn't want her because she was "too timid" which was weird because I don't think she's timid at all. I was on another waitlist for a Shiba Inu and the breeder told me I was first in line for a puppy this year... but that fell through because I got fed up with her. She ignored all my emails asking if I could visit and put in no effort to get to know me better so that was why I contacted other breeders

@@kimdaovlog Ugh, yeah, sounds like the previous breeder might have just been in it for the money. When researching places I always crossed off places that didn’t allow visits or questionnaires. And that person’s loss, Hina seems like such a super sweet girl. She will grow into her personality soon, especially with Yuki as her big sister and you socializing her with so many different people and dogs which will do wonders for her confidence I’m sure! I look forward to seeing her grow 😊

Oh yeah it would be so hard! I actually tried to look into adopting during covid before I applied for a Shiba Inu and there were no dogs left. I kept checking back but every dog that had gone up weren’t apartment friendly :(

Hina is so cute! I adopted my dog when she was about 1 year old nine years ago and she was potty trained already by her previous owner so I got lucky with that. She apparently had puppies before I adopted her. She’s a mixed corgi.

Shibas are very quick with potty training. Shibas are clean. Usually not shit in the house. Pee might happens, but when you are strict taking her out (fixed time) she will learn quick.

Aww Yuki was so good with her. Hina is so cute. The whimpering and whining at night is hard to ignore, but guys are already doing so well with training her!!! :) Also what was causing her itching? Fleas?

She’s stopped crying now so it’s been good! We think it’s dry skin, we started putting in fish oil in her food and it’s improved a lot. Though now her adult coat is coming out so she’s been scratching again :(

i would love to know how! i live on the gold coast and have been waiting 2 years for a Shiba puppy. ive been in contacted with a dozen breeders trying to get my name at there letting them know ive owned one before, i work in the pet industry i know what to do etc etc etc and its so so so difficult and ive almost given up. This is all on dogzonline as well. like i dont know how im ever going to get one

I’ll make a video talking about it in detail but yeah it isn’t easy to get a Shiba puppy. I sent long emails to breeders with lots pf details only on dogzonline and only a few got back to me. For most they all said they have long waiting lists so I decided to call some of them to talk directly to the breeders. I was very serious about getting a Shiba and was willing to go above and beyond to even just be considered. I breeder I got Hina from, when I called her i told her that I was willing to take a flight (from Sydney to perth) that night just to meet her, I didn’t expect her to give me a puppy, I just wanted to meet her and her dogs. She told me it wasn’t a good time to visit so we left it and I said I’ll visit the month after. But because I was calling, she remembered me so when someone just so happened to not want Hina, she remembered me and asked if I wanted her. I was previously on another waiting list with a breeder in NSW but I got fed up with her because she told me I was first in line for a puppy and then ignored all my emails I sent about visiting them.

@@kimdaovlog yeah its difficult! I emailed all in QLD and a few in NSW that are around no longer then 8 hours away from me. WOW yeah it's nearly about luck chance that people get them. If nothing happens in the next few months i'm going to ring rather then email because as you said its very difficult and many don't reply. I got an email from one of the breeders i have been speaking to for ages and trying to not get my hopes up too much but she has 4 female puppies that were born this month. She doesn't have a wait list and she goes by what she likes and the people when she meets them. Just crossing all my fingers that this is finally my turn. Im buying puppy products like bowls and stuff slowly hoping it manifests a Shiba puppy :'D I was really hoping for a Tri but that is really impossible so i also love the reds so that is probably what i will get! But im so happy you got Hina!

I paid $4000 for her, but you have to be financially stable before you get a pet. We had to hospitalise her for a day because she had a reaction to her vaccination and it cost us $2000 for 1 night. Pets get very expensive

Yes. I researched for a long time and only chose to go with registered breeders. Breeders don’t breed for the money and it’s extremely hard to get a dog from them, they are very picky on who they give their puppies to. I’ve also wanted a Shiba Inu for 7 years and have done extensive research on that breed. During covid before I actually applied for a Shiba Inu I looked into adopting but all of them were adopted. I kept an eye on them to see if any dogs came up that would suit me but every dog that was up for adoption weren’t apartment friendly. They were all Mastiffs, huskies, rottweilers, staffies.. they are all dogs that need houses with a back yard, something I do not have. I also don’t think I am able to handle a big dog, I chose not to adopt because I don’t believe I will be able to give them the best life because of my living situation. Also even if I applied, 100% I wouldn’t have been approved to adopt because I live in an apartment in the city. Prior to wanting a Shiba Inu I wanted a husky but after researching for a few months I realized I don’t think I will be able to handle one so I chose not to get one. I encourage everyone to research on the breed they are getting whether you are going with a breeder or adopting to know what you are getting yourselves into.

In my country there are soso many dogs of all ages and sizes that are abandoned so it's very encouraged to adopt. I'm happy you got the dog that was right for you and your home. First of all, it’s extremely HARD to get one in Australia. Breeders here are very picky and don’t just give puppies away to everyone. They make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. They have waiting lists and people usually have to wait at least 2 years for one. Second of all - I researched and have been wanting one for 7 years. I didn’t just make a decision so quickly. Third of all - I even dog sat a friends Shiba for a few days (I even have a whole vlog about it) so I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.
