Seems there is a big problem with the 24000lb MORryde kingpin and new Ford Trucks.

What,all those RV employees never seen a 5th wheel hitch before? Sure looks like they all just started their first day there.

Welcome to the frustration of purchasing new units. It seams there are always issues cropping up last minute or on the maiden trip. Hang in there, it always works out one way or another. I can’t wait to see you towing that beauty down the road.

What a fool that employee is to stand between the pick up and the fifth wheel. No safety in mind. I would have fired him on the spot.

Never hooked up a 5er. Glad our towing days are over. Loving our motorhome.

Doesn’t look like the people helping him have ever either! LOL!

That's nuts. I love the way they suggested buying a flat bed truck to fix the problem. I drive a f350 and just picked up a '21 5th wheel (Palomino by Forest River). The part that goes down to meet the hitch in the bed is slanted instead of flat. Turns great.

What type of King Pin do you have? This issue is mainly only on the heavier models like 24,000lbs

Looks to me like the Gen Y will work, would be nice to see a follow up video of exactly what solved the problem and how it was solved.
@GoYourOwnWay3 жыл бұрын
I showed in the video that it does ride higher but too high so we dropped the hitch from high to middle. The Gen-Y ended up working because it was about 2 in shorter from the pin box to the pin so it doesn't hit the bedrail but does stay in it.

Sorry just saw what video you posted under. I did make a follow-up video. Here it is kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoPQaWtmdqiLY7s

I have the same issue with my DRV and 2020 Ram 3500. I am glad they finally make a pin box rated for 30k that might be the perfect alternative to the weird Moryde one it comes with, I think I’ll give it a shot. Might even try the gooseneck one?

Thank you Shane I appreciate that and will do, now the gooseneck/5th wheel decision? Did your buddy end up with a DRV also? Which version is he going with I would love a comparison on these new trucks.
@GoYourOwnWay3 жыл бұрын
No he still has his XLR Thunderbolt which is a nice rig just not as good as the DRV. But see that's why he doesn't weigh as much. We hit this problem only in the heavier rigs like DRV and Luxe

Now you need to get rid of that crappy hitch and by the B&W

@@GoYourOwnWay i’ve been camping for years and pulling fifth wheels and you cannot beat B&W hitch and they have the largest locking jaws in the industry and you’ve been pulling a trailer for how long
@heretodaygone2morrowrving2313 жыл бұрын
Im my opinion Typically you need 5" to 6" bed rail clearance. I had a similar issue where when backing into a site that had a dip the camper would come in contact with the bed rail. Had I not noticed it and kept going I would have crushed the bed rail.

Wow. Even when you go up to a DRV, the reps don’t know half of what they should. Never heard of Gen-Y? 🤦🏻♂️

You should do a tug test before lifting jacks all the way up.

What a nightmare. Without any experience pulling and maintaining large 5th wheels like the DRV, you should have bought something smaller and more basic to learn.Just because you have money to spend doesn’t mean you should buy the biggest and most expensive rig and truck. This is an absolute cluster.
