Looking at 3:20 and 4:09, I think you’re seeing the power of the drip. Notice at 4:09 she mishit too high. When the ball is sinking quickly at the end of its trajectory, it’s very difficult to time correctly. If it’s sinking like that at your feet like 3:20, it’s a winner. The winners of this match can really shape the ball with outrageous topspin.

The drip is a great shot to develop. Yes, topspin was fantastic. Thanks for watching.

Good to see the speedups on the winning team esp from Diana did not have to be at 100% power to lead to a popup or miss. Placement was interesting. With several times the winners used angles to spread the opponents and work some angles. Something I still work on. It can be easy to bang back instead of being more strategic in point construction. Best.

I'm pretty sure the two women in black shirts have tennis skills in the ntrp 3.5-4.0 range. Modern tennis swings are all compact forearm strokes where the racquet stays to the side of the body. Old school tennis swings were large and rotated around the shoulder socket. Modern tennis swings use smaller whip like action and wrist lag to generate racquet head speed while engaging more of the core or kinetic chain. I believe in pickleball this is a superior drive technique when comparted to large arm motion. To me it just shows the difference in skills . One side had previous racquet sport experience and the other side did not. The more I watch pickleball the more I realize that this sport is a technique based game over strength and agility. Thanks for the video Rory, good choice as always.

Thanks for the compliment and your insights! One point. There are former tennis players who had that long swing you speak about and still use it in pickleball. They shouldn't. They should use the swing Diana uses. You can see how much power she generates with it. Thanks for watching.

@@pickleballpick-apart9787 I agree, Diana's swing is simple and effective. Just like in tennis power in pickleball is generated by paddle head speed, not by pure effort.

Team in yellow and black not 4.0...can't handle the slightest amount of pace. I can see why the other team wasn't having to dink or really construct points at all...very reactionary pickleball from both sides, weak 4.0 level play. Sorry for the negativity -30 degrees Celsius (-22 F) where I live today (but I do get to play indoors later tonight 😅) Good analysis Rory, there is always an opportunity to learn no matter what the level of play one is analyzing!

No disrespect intended, but I don't believe the losing team has 4.0 skills.

I don't think that's being disrespectful. I think they probably are not. However, they chose to play in a tournament at the 4.0 level. Maybe they were just testing their skills. Thanks for watching.

I concur with your assessment. You're definitely not being disrespectful, just honest..if these ladies are honest with themselves then there is a good chance they will improve over time

Rory, i recently played in a tournament where one of the matches was streamed on KZbin. How do i message you to see if you'd be interested in airing my game for a pick-a-part? When i go to your main page, I don't see an option for me to send a message with a link to the game. Thanks.
@pickleballpick-apart97878 сағат бұрын
The only way I can do it, is, if you have a KZbin channel and you send me a link. Thanks for asking.

the lady in white misses backhand block/volleys because of her grip

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll go back and take a look.

The girls in black seem a lot younger than their opponents. If this is a tournament that seems out of whack. The two teams aren’t playing at the same level.

I stopped pointing out players ages a long time ago because I got hammered for doing so. Obviously, this is a tournament where there are no age brackets. Anytime players play in a tournament, that doesn't have age groupings, they need to realize they may play against players half their age or, sometimes, like me, a third of their age. LOL. Thanks for watching.
