This is my serve but people question if the swing has an upward trajectory. I am coming up at contact but it still gets question. What do you say to this?

If I can suggest a wider camera angle so we can see the entire serve....Great tutorial though!

If you bounce it first, you can get straight backspin on it, which can be really tough for your opponent especially if the wind is at your back.

Grate tip, if I could do it! My problem is that I'm not sure if you are putting paddle to side or coming straight back. When I try it the ball goes high and yours goes straight. How could I correct that??

You need to go immediately to your left after contact (assuming you are right handed of course).. If it is going too high you are probably opening the paddle face too much. You must keep the face open but if you do as I said, it should work.

After 5 serves opponents will get used to the spin. Can you demo backhand slice spin serve?

What are you talking. About? If you’re good, you’ll beat them to the net. You have to let the return bounce.
@wardsnyder
@wardsnyder Жыл бұрын
Hello please forgive me if I replied prior to this, but my strategy is to hit it as deep as possible and if I get a short reply, I’m gonna take that ball early and then beat the returner to the net and my goal will be to take their ball on the rise, and find their feet And I can find their feet because I have pinned them back on the return. Thanks so much for your comments, and I hope to demonstrate what I mean in a future video.

Good video, saw that you hook your wrist. Also, what about slice on the bounce serve? Thx.
@wardsnyder
@wardsnyder 6 ай бұрын
yes, you can do this on the slice off the bounce, but I prefer it higher up as I think the bounce brings other factors in that are beyond your control whereas hitting it from your hand, I think is easier more consistent and you’ll be hitting from higher up so that clearing the net is not as much of a problem

I found a way better way to slice serve the ball. Use a bounce serve but let the ball bounce low and cut under it. This hits the ball as a deep floater jumping with spin when it hits. 😊 Backhand is especially good. Everyone has seen the one your hitting.
@wardsnyder

Thanks for your reply. I will demonstrate a bounce serve as well. I have seen others hit the slice serve but not as much action as mine and possibly due to my tennis background. Stay tuned please

Thanks so much for your reply. You know I have never really warmed up to the valance serve and will try it and see if in fact, it works more effectively than the other normal slicer, but I would respectfully disagree that when I execute mine properly, it moves more than anyone that I have seen but I will try your bounce serve and then post that video. Thank you very much for your comments.

@@wardsnyder let the ball bounce low like an earny and get under it and float it over the net. The object of the serve is not to won the point but cause a week return every time, so you can get to the nvz. Take a look at the higher level play serve.

Can’t see the trajectory of the ball, but from how you hit it looks like a side spin, not a slice serve.
@wardsnyder

yes it actually is a slice and sides spin at the same time

I tried this serve today. My opponents told me that it was illegal. We debated for a while. I contended that my arm was still moving forward. I eventually agreed to Just bounce It first. It seems dumb to me that you can do do this off of bounce but not out of hand. Great game, but too many rules limiting the serve. 2 bounce rule already puts the server at a disadvantage.

That's an illegal serve, you can do that off a bounce but not like that. "4.A.7.a. The server’s arm must be moving in an upward arc at the time the ball is struck with the paddle."
@wardsnyder
@wardsnyder Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. However, I respectfully disagree that my serve is illegal. As you stated, the key to being legal is the upward motion. The paddle is below my wrist upon contact and I’m swinging in an upward arc, from low to high. FYI, I’m going to be posting another video with a backhand slice serve that’s equally as effective, and it works very well when playing against a left-hander.

@@wardsnyder a tennis background having an upward arc is topspin, not sidespin technically. I got a backhand service that looks legal but ain't, since it floats with backspin. I fake it with a high follow through.
