@pickleballpick-apart - Thanks for your brutally honest assessment. I was the player in black farside and admin for “Pickleball Chumps”. I started recording my play to see exactly how/what I was doing on the court. Everything you pointed out is always going through my head. The player in grey has not grasped the concept of “Serve and Stay”. In this game I didn’t have much opportunity to third shot drop. But you are correct in assuming that most players at this level don’t grasp the concept of the first three or even five shots to get a rally started. Feel free to pick apart more games from the channel, as I have over 1300 assets in there. YES, more bad play!

Thanks for your kind words. Some players would have been upset. But, you took it as constructive criticism that will hopefully make your game better..

@@pickleballpick-apart9787 I have always been a coachable player from Little League baseball to racquetball and Pickleball. I work in the television production industry where folks are criticized constantly, so I have very thick skin. 😉

The importance of getting to the NVL quickly was pointed out to me early on, but when playing against a much better team they suggested to my partner and I that we had to be in control. Too often they were able to hit shots at us as we were running, so their advice was to move quickly, but come to a stable ready position wherever we were when they started to hit it.
@pickleballpick-apart97876 ай бұрын
Good advice. If you can't make it all the way up, do a split step and get ready for the ball. Thanks for watching.

I seen 3.0 players that are like these players not interested improving their skill, just get the serve and return in driving ball as hard as they can.
@pickleballpick-apart97876 ай бұрын
Some people just want to hit the ball over the net. Thanks for watching.

My wife and I are in our high 60,s after two lessons we wish we could keep the ball in play this long.

Keep practicing and keep taking lessons. Best of luck.

I did not see the players on both sides being in the ready position. More often than not, their paddles were hanging down by their legs.
@pickleballpick-apart97876 ай бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out. That makes a big difference. Watching as many videos as I do, believe me, the majority of players have their paddles at their knees and not in a ready position. Thanks for watching.

I sometimes creep in depending on who's returning. We have a few that like hitting very shallow returns
@pickleballpick-apart97876 ай бұрын
I get it. If the returns are 100% shallow, creep in. Thanks for watching.
@Cacheola6 ай бұрын
@@pickleballpick-apart9787 it's almost as if, if the serves are shallow, the other side taps one just over. That's how some of our points start, ugggh. I play with a mixed bag, can be frustrating

Hehe first time I've seen dogs on a pickleball court. All kidding aside, at 2.5 you basically want to get the ball over the net and inbounds. Then progress from there. The basics you pointed out. Should help them advance.
@pickleballpick-apart978726 күн бұрын
That's exactly right. However, I see 2.5 players trying to do things they're not capable of doing. And, it gets them in trouble. Thanks for watching.

This was painful to watch, but folks at the 2.5 - 2.9 level need to view it at least twice. This beginner level skill set is *not* enjoyable. I was stuck at this level for a year. What made a difference for me was taking lessons, drilling, and moving to a dedicated pickleball club where players are serious about improving.
@pickleballpick-apart97876 ай бұрын
Glad you took lessons and that you spent time drilling. Thanks for watching.

Its easy to get stuck at this level if you dont play with better players. Its okay if this is a close group of friends that just enjoy playing and having fun.

Painful to watch. But no better way to learn than to see your errors play out on the court. Your channel is one of the few that gives any attention to beginner play.
