@@PickleballKitchen Yes! I notice that when my drops are good, the player leans forward more and the head dips with the ball. As soon as I start to see that forward movement, I go toward the kitchen. Otherwise, I'll split-step once the ball gets close to them, if they don't continue to dip their body.

Nice visual and the demo. What about the case when 3rd shot is a drive instead of drop?

I prefer a 3rd shot drive/drip when practical followed by a 5th shot drop

This is it. 3rd shot drive would buy you half a distance to kitchen, especially after a good/deep serve. Other words, drop shot is higher percentage and better quality if you are closer to the kitchen.
