I use to do card tricks, and doing that I know what magicians think. After he does something, I know how he did it, or know what he is doing. Still fun to watch though

He doesn't do it to the woman because her pockets aren't as good for pickpocketing. Also, she didn't have that many things on her, theatrical pickpockets first do a check before the show to spot the people with jackets and many things to steal. There's also the simbology of male dominating (ridiculizing) male, that gets lots of laughs. If he ridiculized a woman like that (Or a children, for that matter), audience would not like it as much.
